I noticed that too as was always just the Machrie and Machrihanish that Loganair offered in the past, not Mach Dunes. Although, given that the course can’t be much more than a 5 minute drive from the airport, I’d be surprised if they wouldn’t send someone along to collect arriving golfers, particularly as the hotel is back up and running. I don’t see any options for playing Machrihanish AND Mach Dunes (daylight permitting obviously) then flying back or an overnight stay alternative but I suppose that would require some sort of tie in with a local hotel.

Just add 9 hole Carradale(on the way and coupled with Shiskine) and Dunaverty and you've got a fantastic balanced trip

You can do Machrihanish from Glasgow in about 3 hours from memory. That might make an overnight trip worth it. If you sign up to the Mach Dunes website you will get regular email offers but they really only work if you are a fourball and don't mind sharing. FBD has done it and speaks highly of the accommodation.

The cottages at Mach Dunes are superb, I've stayed in them four times. The perfect balance of style and comfort. I've not stayed in either of the hotels but they are also supposed to be excellent. If you stay in the cottages breakfast is served in the Ugadale hotel which is right next door.

Great suggestion Jeff. I don’t know too much about Carradale although see they have a nice quote from Tom Doak on their homepage. It doesn’t look too far from Claonaig (where the Arran ferry would drop off) and is en route to Machrihanish. Would be a good option after a morning round in Arran (I say without consulting the ferry timetables so that may not even be a possibility!).

Completely agree Bill. Played an early morning round at Dunaverty before Machrihanish old in the afternoon. Would thoroughly recommend it and couldn’t have put it better - great fun in an amazing setting.

It makes sense to do an overnight trip at least given the travel time to get there, and the abundance of other options locally means you can always squeeze another round in somewhere decent. I get the Mach Dunes emails and got one last week in which they were promoting winter offers up to March but the golf deals only seem to be up to the end of December. Might have to wait a bit longer until their summer offers are released.

I’d also vouch for the accommodation. I’ve only stayed the once and that was at the Ugadale Hotel, which was very good. Great location opposite the 1st tee/18th green of Machrihanish and pub adjacent - what more does a golfer need!
