It's more a lack of knowledge pertaining to etiquette than it is a feeling of entitlement on the part of new players, they just don't know their responsibilities.
Anyway you look at it, it's never an ideal situation when recreational players mix with more serious players. It gets worse when the cost of the round is $250.00+.
Peer pressure has always worked at private clubs. Well, maybe not always but laggards, along with whiners, helicopter pilots, etc., don't contribute to slow play as their usual onesome can keep up with most groups ahead of them.
