George: glad to hear the books made it safely, and thank you for your insightful essay on Seth Raynor which succinctly puts into perspective the engineering wizardry of the man, and the all too common under-appreciation of his talent.
With the careers of CB Macdonald and Raynor inexorably linked, for me, one reading bonus was how you interleaved CB throughout and drew out his roguish elements in a non-offensive manner. By comparison, Raynor - the central character - came off as the self-effacing, modest gent. Opposites attract, and clearly they had a tremendous partnership.
Golf architecture aside, this essay also serves as a social documentary of the time, and CB really came to the fore in the social stakes.
Ps ... Enjoyed your neat course layout of Shoreacres (2000).
