An excellent program (approx 15mins) with great insight into the Sattler family.

Here is the link to the video and full transcript.

Brett,
Thanks for the link.  I had been informed of the Landline segment then completely forgot.  So this video is excellent.  Having the ABC give the courses all this free advertising would please that "spud" farmer no end! The courses speak for themselves though. Just magnificent!

Interesting that the Titleist golf clubs get a good showing but the architects don't get named as such!

Thanks and cheers,  Colin

The architects weren't the only ones who didn't get much of a mention!

Justin,

I'm not sure what your cryptic comment alludes to! Can you enlighten me?

Cheers Colin

Here’s a link to an earlier version of the history of Barnbougle. (I'm hopeless at putting in links, have tried at various times with photos with no success, so if the following link doesn't work just copy and paste http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK6wamAiFrs to see it.)

The Landline program omits any reference to one of the driving forces behind the creation of Barnbougle, this video might jog your memory. Unfortunately, nowhere is there any mention of the passionate golfers who also invested in the project but, sadly, are no longer part of it. Their readiness to put funds in to the venture probably gave added confidence to the landowner that the concept had merit.

Tasmania is not the only place where passionate golfers invested in dream projects but are no longer part of the story.   ;)

I have no reason to doubt you are right there Daryl. It seems that heart and soul can be the victims of business. What frustrates me most is that the national broadcaster, the ABC, lends significant credence to an alternate history of Barnbougle.

David,

I don't think Landline set out to document the history of Barnbougle Dunes.  Its a profile piece on an agricultural affairs program about a farmer who has diversified into golf.

No doubt the story about how the course was created and then almost destroyed by the transfer of $10mil from the golf tourism industry to the legal industry is ripping yarn, but it is a story for another time and another TV program.
