EDIT, we are now full at Seacroft and have only one space left at Woodhall If you want to join the group it is stiil possible on other days. (21 01 2013).
Please note that due the difficulties of finding accomodation and food for this small army, entries will have to be confirmed by the 23 01 2012. I need to sort this before I go on holiday on so that is now the cut off date unless someone drops out and you can offer to take thier place for the bits they reserved.
I’ve been trying to find an interesting combo for winter golf break. The last couple of Spring's have seen a group of us head for Burnham and then the Quirky Cotswolds. The previously mentioned Beau Dessert is out and a sensible suggestion was made that Links courses are much less likely to be weather affected, either waterlogged or frozen. However when I approached Porthcawl I was informed they will be charging summer rates on all weekends throughout the year!

Friday 15th Brancaster
Saturday 16th Woodhall Spa
Sunday 17th Seacroft
Details
Thursday 14th Thursday at Royal Worlington & Newmarket Golf Club, aka Mildenhall, aka The Sacred Nine, aka "the best 9 hole golf course in the world."
Its about 60 miles from my house and predictably I’ve never been there, but Ran who lives a long way away has.
http://www.golfclubatlas.com/courses-by-country/england/rwn/ They are be happy to accommodate us and if it all comes together I’ll try and play 9 holes in the morning and 18 in the afternoon. They only ask that we let them know if we want soup and sandwiches at tluchtime. I imagine most would arrive for an afternoon round? They are OK with 3 or 4 ball but it would be good if we kept to to the spirit of the place and perhaps swap partners every 9?
Rates
County Card Holder (all day) £45.00
County Card Holders (18 holes) £35.00
Individual Visitors (all day) £60.00
Individual Visitors (18 holes) £50.00

Magical place.

We can go out at 7.45 in the morning and then again from about 1pm. They are a 2 ball club (which might cause problems with no's?).
Cost
First 18 holes own ball £65, as a second round £25
Foursomes Main round £50 and as a second second £15
However if anyone wanted to play Foursomes and then own ball it would be £50 + £25.
I’m considering going up the night before and playing 36 but will certainly play there in the PM. Please let me know if you’d be interested in that option.
There will be a tide covering the approach road in the morning so if you are late – swim!
Brancaster to Woodhall spa 2hrs 15 or to Skegness 2 hrs.
Have yet to look into accommodation until I get the level of interest. Could stay in Brancaster, Kings Lynn or Boston. Thoughts?
Brancaster to Woodhall spa 2hrs 15 or to Skegness 2 hrs.
Saturday 16th
Woodhall Spa
£50.00 for members of the EGU (comes with club membership). £65 for Scots and other invaders!
3 tee's secured from 12.30. 6 deposits paid £20 each.
Golf Digest has it at no 46 in the World!
http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-courses/2012-05/100-best-golf-courses-outside-usRan liked it a lot.

Accommodation
B&B in Skegness. Oh the joys of a seaside town out of season, what’s not to love. About 40 mins away.
The No1 rated B&B on Trip Advisor the Kildare Hotel has individual rooms at £50 each. There’s one twin which would be cheaper to share.
However there is an alternative as the original Butlin’s is in Skegness.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butlins If there’s enough enthusiasm for a piece of history and a laugh I’ll look into staying there.
I’ll find a restaurant and hopefully will have fallen off the wagon by then.
Sunday 17th. St Patricks Day
One of Britain’s lessor known quality links is in Skegness.
Seacroft. 3 tee secured from 10am at £30 each (£100 deposit paid). Which in my view is also outstanding VFM.
I think the 13th is one of my favourite holes and overall I like it a lot and so does Ran even if it will never make the world top 250.
http://www.golfclubatlas.com/courses-by-country/england/seacroft1/The place has some history.

As time is short I’m looking to have the whole thing sorted in the next two weeks and so just Yes votes please. Once you’re in, you’re in. I won’t be taking deposits and you will owe me unless you find someone else to take your place.
It would be fun to play the weekend as a Stableford comp, with a £10 entry and handicap adjustments after the first round. Please indicate Y/N if you're keen on the idea.
I’m going on holiday on the 25th of this month for two weeks so I need to firm up these bookings by then. The max no is 12 people and it’s on a first come basis. If you can’t let me know by the 24th then you’ll have to take a chance that things are still available. Sorry to hustle but I will be playing catch up at work when I return.
Hope to see you then.
PS suggestions for a name, now we have a third iteration?
