Top Course ratings. - Is there one for the MET section?
« on: October 08, 2012, 08:42:24 PM »
Was talking with a friend over the weekend after a round at the Whiteface Mountain Inn course and we were talking about all the courses in the NYC area and I wondered if there was a list  of the Top 50 or more courses in the Met section.  Not really worried about the accuracy but more wondering what the ones that aren't household names are?

Anything out there?

Thanks

Dan

You're probably seen it before...it's called the best courses in the world.

When you have Shinny, NGLA, Sebonack, Friar's Head, et al in your GA, your list is silly good and the majority of courses have no chance of cracking the list.
Coming in 2024
~Elmira Country Club
~Soaring Eagles
~Bonavista
~Indian Hills
~Maybe some more!!

Thanks.  I appreciate the links.  Perhaps I should have done a thorough search first.

Dan--
My mom lives close to Lake Placid, not sure there's a course with that name -- do you mean the Whiteface Club (on the back side of the Lake)?  What were your thoughts?

Yes, your are correct.  Perhaps in was thinking the Saranac Inn which is a nice track outside of Saranac Lake.  I hadn't played the Whiteface Club in many years.  They put some big money into the course including some major tree clearing and a irrigation system  since my last visit.  It's a fun to play mountain course with some fun holes and some tiny greens in spots.  It was really enjoyable.  It was in great shape considering its getting late in the season there.  The course has been highly rated by Golfweek.

I haven't played the Lake Placid Club courses but this is now my favorite course in the area taking the honor from Saranac.  My family enjoyed our visit so much we are thinking about buying one of the townhouses that are part of the Whiteface Club.
