If wind comes up at Bandon Dunes is might be perfect practice for ball striking and trajectory for the US Open.  It has been a mad windy few weeks around San Francisco.  Bring your chapstick.  I also like the idea of coming in fresh off a really fun golf experience.

Brian,

I know Geoff checks in here on occasion. So far not a contributor though.

I wonder if Trails would be a good tune-up for O-Club, or at least the best option on the property?

Will Geoff tweet the gca.com classic "if I had to split the four courses over 10 rounds" analysis?

Rumor has it that today, Geoff made quick stops at Peninsula (Ross), Green Hills (Dr. Mac) and Poplar Creek (the crazy Armenian) ...
"... and I liked the guy ..."

Matthew those at Memphis are practicing the fine art of competing.  It is a skill set in itself as many learned or have to learn.

Emile,

A friend of mine works at Glenwild in Park City, Utah and recently spotted Ogilvy.

Maybe Geoff Oglivy is a belt-notcher.

Kidding.

Does anyone know if Geoff Oglivy's designed or built a golf course given the body of courses that he's played?

BTW, keep the 'stache!

Ron,

Geoff is in partnership with Mike Clayton & team.  The first course he's involved in, I believe, is the redesign work at Bonnie Doon.

I do not see any Bandon course as a tune up for Olympic Lake. That has nothing to do with any of the courses. They just have nothing in common from a grass or prepartory point of view.

Wouldn't Bandon be better after the Open? That way you can go enjoy yourself after the ball busting week at the Open.

I played with Geoff today at the San Francisco Golf Club and he defended himself about over playing himself at Olympic.  He said he would read this thread and joked about it.

He did play Olympic on Monday and will play again on Wednesday.  He said he has tried every possible way of preparation for a tournament.  Arriving a week early, a few days early, etc, etc.   It can wear you out so he likes to play a few times and just basically keep relaxed.

BTW, he though Bandon was out of this world.  He actually bought and used a new Bandon carry bag for his clubs.

He thought the new par 3 course was the most fun holes on the property.
