This was announced by the USGA this morning. A Women's Open is about as big as Chicago Golf can go given the tight footprint, and the room needed for TV, corporate tents, etc. The 2005 Walker Cup was great fun, the 2018 U.S. Senior Women's Open even more fun.
I stitched together something at
www.illinoisgolfer.net for those who care to indulge. It includes a two-page interview with club president Herb Getz on the acquisition of the tournaments, needing to "get in line" as other clubs gobbled up Opens and more, and the restoration of the course to Seth Raynor's drawings from 1923.
