EUREKA!  OK, I'm now at 95%.  May I ruin it by hazarding my guess?

I can't identify either course, but I must say:

1.  the first one certainly has the advantage of more land available for the routing .  The achie on course 2 seems to have done a good routing in a fairly confined space.

2.  Routing #1 is pretty old-fashioned.  Out and back.  Probably done before the value of returning 9s and "boxing the compass" was thought of.

3.  #1 does a good job of using those water storage ponds in the design.  I would have like to see a bit more "naturalness" however, perhaps some rough edges to the water rather than that "manufactured" look that prevails.

4.  The windmill shows that the designer has an understanding of miniature golf course design and a sense of humor.  I like that!

Tom -
Not yet. Let's get some more guesses. Although, it is ultimately up to Scott.

I'm so confidant in my answer that you can send me a message and I will confirm.

It's not Canterbury, if that is what you were thinking.

Keep going South!

I was THINKING of that course, [name of the course omitted, so as not to ruin anyone's fun], where a certain somebody learned to HIT that high fade.

"SPDB"-

Picture #1 represents arguably the top course in this country.  As far as knowing its name as a precondition to joining GCA.com, I would gladly pay a monthly fee to GCA.com if I could just play this course once in my life.  :)   My strong feelings for this course have grown based on the excellent write up here.

I'll admit that only after redanman's post did I get it, as I was initially thinking of the course the high fader created... but Dan has described it perfectly now .  This has to be the clue to give it away....

Here's the last clue, for anyone still uncertain: Dale Douglass.

(Sorry to be so Type B-ish, Professor Nash, Jr.! Aren't you in Ohio, too?)

Looking at what courses I had used this week, I figured I hadn't done one in the midwest yet.  So, is Dick Wilson the butcherer of the Ross original?  Or was it just "fixing" the course for past major tournaments?

Another note:  like Seminole earlier, this Ross design fit into one picture, no melding needed.

The 2nd hole at Scioto was in Dan Jenkins' "Greatest 18" book circa 1967.  Is that hole in the lower right hand corner of the picture?

Also, when was Dick Wilson's renovation of Scioto and what unfortunate atrocities did he commit?
