Go Get'em Jesse!!!
« on: December 16, 2010, 10:44:07 PM »
I am not a religious man, and I don't make a habit of asking for prayers, but one of our former fellow members - Jesse Jones is in a battle with cancer (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2013698584_jessejones17m.html).

He is a prince of a man and is loved and adored by many in Puget Sound area. If anyone can beat it, it is Jesse.

Please send your prayers and good wishes towards his complete and speedy recovery. I wish him nothing but the best.

Jesse - get better.

One of my favorite GCA rounds was seeing Jesse fire a 37 for nine holes at Stoneeagle.

Hopefully Jesse looks in here from time to time!

I was fortunate to be able to join Jesse and Pete Pittock for a round at Aldarra last summer with our host, Sean Leary. Those rounds when you feel so good thanks to your company are soooo special. Jesse was an absolute treat to play with that day and I know that everyone on this site who may know him reaches out and wants to help. Good luck and we are with you!

Jesse,

I have never met you but I do wish you the best in this very rough battle. Take a deep breath and convince yourself you will prevail and be out on the sward in no time.

I do hope our good friend Pat Mucci will call you.

All of my best wishes to you.

Bob

Jesse,
My prayers are with you as well. As my sister can recent attest, the docs up there do a great job. You'll beat this beast, and you won't be missing much good golfing weather.

Ran,

I'd like to be the first member to ask that you restore Jesse's membership to gca.com. Especially while he's recovering he'll need all the encouragement that he can from a community of friends that obviously still remember him fondly.

I am hoping that everyone who looks in on this thread might write out and post a similar plea to Ran and hope that this can send Jesse very positive thoughts!

Jesse,

Go Fight the Battle!! We are all on your side!!! Prayers on the way.

Not sure if anyone else read the SI article on Cal Coxswain Jill Costello and her courageous battle.

It should be a must for all to learn how to be positive and upbeat in the face of bad news.

Wow, so many people I know seem to be fighting cancer.  Thanks for the notice Richard.  Though I struggle with faith, I do pray nightly and will add Jesse to my growing list.

I was in the foursome with Jason and Jesse in 2006 (former GCAer Tom Renli was our fourth) and witnessed one of the most schizophrenic rounds ever.  He was so pumped up as he finished on this very difficult day.  It was a joy to play with him.

I was supposed to play with Jesse during my last trip to Seattle a couple years ago, but a schedule conflict came up.  He did send me an E-Mail to tell me why he was leaving the site, and though I tried to persuade him otherwise, to our loss, his mind was made up.  Hopefully I can dig up a working E-Mail address and alert him to the well-wishes on the site.

Here is to you Jesse.  You're a strong, vibrant man.  There are many more 37s in your bag.

I was fortunate to meet Jesse at the Chambers Bay gathering and he stood out amongst the crowd due to a boisterous personality and a smile that can't help but make you smile too.

Seemed like a helluva guy.  Great energy!

This news sucks.  Hang in there, Jesse Jones, there is still more golf to be played.  You can beat this!!!

What does it matter if the poor player can putt all the way from tee to green, provided that he has to zigzag so frequently that he takes six or seven putts to reach it?     --Alistair Mackenzie--

Yesterday on Facebook I copied the item below from fellow GCAer Ron Montesano:

Forwarding from my friend Ron Montesano: Most people have 100 wishes for Christmas; a cancer patient only has one, to get better. I know 97% of you won't re-post this to your status, but my friends will be the 3% that do. In honor of someone who has died, or is still fighting, or survived cancer, please copy this to your status.
