Roger Wolfe and Ed Oden have organized an outstanding Dixie Cup event for 2010.

EVENT DETAILS:

NOTE: We can accommodate up to 36 players on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

DINNER:  After golf, the plan is to have a cookout at Charlotte Country Club.  Anyone who is coming into town Thursday but can't make it in time for golf is welcome to join us for the cookout. You need to let Ed Oden know if you plan on doing so ASAP so that we can get an accurate headcount.

Ed is still working on some details and does not have an exact cost breakdown at this time, but he expects it will be very reasonable.

Is there a field size limit or time limit to register? I won't know until August or early September if I can play. I certainly want to play, but it depends if I have to deploy in late September or not.

Field is limited to a maximum of 32 each day. If we get more than 32 inquiries we will place the balance on standby as alternates in the order in which we receive the registrations. First in - First out.

Are the rates listed single round rates or daily rates since there is supposed to be 2 rounds per day?

The are better up the road in Lexington. For the life of me I can't remember the names of the places though. Could drive you right to them, for whatever that is worth. Lexington has pretty much the best BBQ in the state.

there is a place called king BBQ just down the road (5 mins) rom Carolina GC.  It was featured on food network "diners, drive-INS and dives"

Thanks Mike for getting things rolling.  A few things:

1.  I didn't think to block the hotel rooms for Thursday night for those coming in then.  So you might want to wait until I get that straight before making your reservation.  Hopefully it will be resolved today.

2.  The room rate is good for occupancy up to 4 people.  So you can save a few bucks by finding a roommate.

3.  This hotel is clean, cheap, accessible and there is a Jocks & Jills sports bar right next door.  But you don't have to stay there.  Feel free to find your own accomodations if you prefer.

4.  The golf rates are for single rounds, not for all day.  These are all private clubs which have been kind enough to let us in on a weekend when play is normally restricted to members.  So we don't have the run of the place.

Feel free to shoot me an IM if anyone has any questions.

Thanks, guys, this looks good.

Typically the Dixie Cup is so late in the season that 36 hole days are tough to get in.  That has resulted in a rather leisurely pace of events, rather in line with the Southern life style we celebrate at the Dixie Cup!   Ya'll come.

I just spoke with the hotel and we are now all set for Thursday night the 10/21 with the same deal.  So I think you are good to go if you want to make reservations there.  As always, let me know if anyone has any questions or problems.

My grandparents are from Lexington (grandmother still lives there in her early 90s).  The place that gets the most press is Lexington BBQ #1.  It's been there almost 50 years, and has been featured in many Top BBQ lists, including in the WSJ a few years ago where it was ranked first in the US.  In the early 80s the owner, Wayne Monk, catered an economic summit in Williamsburg attended by Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, and others.  There are many others in Lexington, but can't go wrong with #1.

I just checked the Registration Page and had to rub my eyes to make sure I wasn't seeing things.  Sean Arble signed up for the Dixie Cup?  Holy transatlantic flight, Batman!  This tops the SEC's charges against Goldman as headline of the day.  And there was much rejoicing!

We shall see what transpires.  I am meant to be in the States at this time, but one never knows.  I will be sure to give anybody on the Reserve List plenty of time to organize themselves should I bail.

Jason, my bad.  Let me make it up to you.  How about this:

I just checked the Registration Page and had to rub my eyes to make sure I wasn't seeing things.  JC Jones signed up for the Dixie Cup?  Holy crosstown bus ride, Batman!  This tops cleaning out my garage as the highlight of my day.  And there was much rejoicing!
