Mark Pearce stages Birdie Fest at TOC
« on: August 04, 2009, 08:22:47 PM »

Yesterday Mark had three birdies, all on snakey putts over 20 feet.  Not to mention a couple more par saving putts of similar length.  A great demonstration of putting.

Sadly he was Edenized and was road kill on the 17th, but all in all a magnificent display by a 12 handicapper.

The ROW Buda team should be worried, very worried, about these guys handicaps.  And, Conrad will be back.

P.S.  Put our names in as walk-ons at 10ish and were off by noon (or earlier if Mark had got there in a more timely manner)

P.P.S.  It was a great experience playing with Mark.

More evidence for my theory that you make more long putts on links courses ... well done.

Nice work, Mr. Pearce! I'd certainly hate to give you 12 strokes if I were a scratch player, given what I saw at Crail. Perhaps you'd like to play for Npr Cal in next year's King's Putter gala?

ROW  is already deeply concerned about this year's matches, even before this frightening report was posted.

Oh my.  :o ;D

I'm still gutted by the two that stayed on the lip on 5 and 9!  A great day's golf with Bryan, who didn't mention how close he came to a miraculous par on 14 after his second shot came to rest against the wall of Hell.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

The wall of Hell - now that has a nice ring to it.  Sadly the par was like your putts on 5 and 9 - an almost thing that doesn't count in golf.  Still, I'll remember that I escaped from Hell in one shot.  Not too shabby a memory.
