San Quentin - What an opportunity!

If I remember correctly, this is a spectacular piece of land. Does anyone know the area well (other than as a "resident", or even so, I suppose)? Is it windy? What a remarkable opportunity this would be for a new course.

Here is the sateliite link: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=san+quentin+prison&sll=37.919894,-122.469492&sspn=0.048751,0.076904&gl=us&ie=UTF8&ll=37.941355,-122.489405&spn=0.012184,0.019226&t=h&z=16

Sounds like a great place for a penal course!

It'd fetch a pretty penny for sure.

They could expand the joint at Pelican Bay and send em up there. Plenty of room to do such and I'm sure land is dirt cheap too!!

You guys are kidding, right?

Anyone who has ever seen San Quentin - and it's tough to miss from many nearby roads and highways - can tell you that it's a small city filled with massive buildings and infrastructure.  The cost to tear all of that down and transform the land into a golf course would have to be STAGGERING.

That being said, if some gazillionaire individual or company with zero financial concerns wanted to do this - and could get by what would have to be the massive regulatory and environment issues also - well then yes, it is some fine bay-side land with very nice views.  As with all landforms anywhere near the Bay, yes it is quite windy there.
