Ballyneal, 4th green to 5th tee.  It is almost an extension of the putting surface.....

How about the Sheep Ranch - hit it from wherever you want - that can't be topped..

Merion, 7th green to 8th tee.

Applebrook, many green aprons magically become the next tee.

From 6 to 7 at Hasentree in Wake Forest is very short, the back tee on 7 is pretty much a run-off area from the 6th green, a par 3. This is a pretty odd feature considering the course is both a Fazio and a housing development.

Other than that, the best I can think of overall is Pinehurst #3. While not short every single time, the walks are very reasonable, not more than 10 yards in most cases. Certainly the walk from 1 to 2 is somewhat long because you have to cross Highway 5, but thats about it.

Southern Pines, Pine Needles, and Mid Pines are very reasonable as well.

The Old Course, most holes.

Unless you are playing the 'Championship' tees.

Locally in Adelaide, Glenelg is excellent from the members tees, except for a few (eg 7 green to 8 tee, and 16 green to 17 tee).  It makes for a nice, quick round.

Oakmont 14/15. 15 tee used to be part of the 14 green.

7th to 8th at Bandon Trails couldn't be closer.

Also, having played a preview round at Old Mac last week, there are a number of tee boxes that are extremely close (5 to 6, 6 to 7, 7-8, 8-9) but not sure if those tee boxes will be regularly played once the course is in final form.

I always think of Leven's 15th when I think of short green to tee walks.  The raised area left rear of the green is the 16th tee (the slope is maybe 3 feet so that is the separation).  When I played the flag was all the way on the left back of the green and I swear it wasn't more than 12 paces from the hole to the tee blocks.  We kept a guy on look out while we teed off because we all agreed that using the slope of the tee box was a good way to play the hole if one wanted to avoid the bunker.  This is a dangerous situation for sure, but it is where I first got the idea that its pretty cool to have the grass shaved between green and tee.  I spose that was 1996.

I first think Old Mac (some of the holes) when this came up....

But overall, for me I think maybe it's SFGC?

I submit Essex County Club in MA.

#16 to #17.  I bet there is 10 feet b/t the left edge of the green and the mown tee area.
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....

At Old Elm, Colt and Ross built tees in the same fill pad as the greens on 2, 5, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 18. The other tees are all within 25 paces or less.

Merion, 7th green to 8th tee.

Applebrook, many green aprons magically become the next tee.

i immediately thought of applebrook when i saw this thread.  i would also add that at Merion the best example would be on the west course 9 green to 10 tee.

If you're playing the Member Tees, Augusta National is probably pretty close up there with The Old Course.

Any green-tee at the Mid Ocean Club qualifies: 8 ft from the fringe to  back teemarker between first and second...

Not to go off the main topic, but I just love it when the route a walker takes is so much shorter and enjoyable than the cart-ballers.  The best example I can think of is leaving the 3rd green at Bulle Rock.  Walker get a neat little, maybe 100 yard trek along a wooded stream along some planks, while the carters must walk back quite far to retrieve their cart then start on a long journey to get to the 4th tee.

Apache Stronghold is the same way.  The walkers paths just go straight ahead, nice walks through the desert.  Look out for that rattlesnake!!  :o  If you walked the cart path, you'd probably walk another mile.

Hasn't anybody else played Leven?  That green to tee deal si much closer than the rest of you lot are talking about - about 3 feet.  Its practically the only thing I remember about the course - well that and the brutal 18th.

I wish I had a better pic of what I am talking about.
