Bandon In Bloom (photos)
« on: March 07, 2009, 02:58:16 PM »
I just recently had the trip of my life at Bandon.  I had the opportunity to play all four courses, 3 of them in good weather, and Bandon Dunes in sleet with 40 mph winds.  This has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world to play golf; each course has its own character and different style.  The gorse is in full bloom right now, so there are yellow bushes everywhere.  I will post some pictures just to show the absolute beauty of this place.  This was by far the best trip I have ever taken, and if you haven't been there yet you must go.

Pacific Dunes

Bandon Trails

The weather was so bad at Bandon Dunes none of the pictures turned out to well, but I will give you a little teaser of Old MacDonald

Yummy.
I'll have some of that!

Was there maybe 3 years ago.
Itching to go back.  Wonderful golf experience.

...the hole location on #14 BT looks to be in a favorable position.

Making my first trip to Bandon with my dad and brother in November. However, after looking at these photos I am not sure if I really want to play there. ;D

Your photographs are some of the very best I have seen posted of all the glorious golf ground here at Bandon Dunes!

Good work, and thanks.

(did anyone in your group play into, and out of, the road hole bunker?)

Peter -

thanks; your photo essay is much appreciated, and very well done.

I've never been there so a basic question - what hole on Trails is the 3rd picture from the end (of the Trails section)?

Great pictures.  I was there a couple of weeks ago and it is amazing how much more the gorse has bloomed since then.

p.s. what kind of camera do you use?  The quality is incredible.

Wow - When OM is done - no four courses in the world, at such close proximity, will be able to hold a candle to Bandon.

I wish I lived in Eugene instead of Portland to make the 5 hr drive only 2 hrs.

How did you shoot PF?

We've had very dry winter in OR, a great year to make the early trip.

these pictures look awesome. I have to make a trip one of these days. i guess the problem in life is "so many good golf course so little vacation time"  ;D

one question though and forgive my ignorance. The original post says that all 4 courses were played but i was under the impression that there were only three courses at bandon, with the 4th under construction. What am i missing?

You are correct Rob, when Old MacDonald is done this will be the top destination in the whole world.  4 absolutely amazing golf courses built within the last 10 years all at one site, it’s hard to fathom.  I actually played the best at Bandon Dunes in the horrible conditions, at Pacific I think I was so enamored by the beauty it was hard to concentrate on the golf shot required, and at Bandon Trails the greens were considerably faster than the other courses.

Well, I had the unbelievable opportunity to walk the full 18 holes and play the 10 finished ones at Old MacDonald.  To sum it up, you really do feel like you are in Scotland playing this course.  The Alps punchbowl will be an awesome hole for the general public to see, it will definitely catch a lot of peoples attention.
