I am eagerly anticipating my first GCA events this year and in looking at their hitstories I was wondering. Why not do a KP at Bandon or a Buda at St Andrews. Has this ever been discussed or considered? Grudge Match 2010 on Old McDonald......PRICELESS.

Anthony,

I'm with Sean and Tom on this.

Just look at the Kingsley gathering with Mike DeVries.  I threw it out there to just get it going and people would come.  What does the guy do ... he's making it happen!  As much as I'd like to go to the Kingsley show ... ain't gonna happen.

Someday, I have the goal of making the KP, the Dixie Cup and the BUDA the same year.  The GCA grand slam!

And to the NorCal KP crew ... be on the lookout for an upcoming pre-KP warmup GCA gathering at Peacock.  Forrest might even be able to make it.  TBD.  ;)

All this 2010 KP talk is very very premature, gents.  What we really ought to do is discuss at the 2009 KP... with two topics to be decided by consensus:

1.  Will indeed the tradition be followed, and organization of 2010 revert to NorCal?
2.  If so, who will step up and make it happen?

Note also that the answer to 2 kinda determines the answer to 1.  That is, whoever the hell wants to make the arrangements, have at it.  Hopefully a NorCal does step up, but if not, anything is fair game.  And whoever decides to do it - THEY ALSO DECIDE THE VENUES (as Peter says).  Oh suggestions can and should obviously be given... but if there's one thing that's proven true time and time again with these things, it's that talk is cheap and actions speak loudly.

In any case, all this really ought to be discussed among the participants... and in any case it's way way way too early to even think about right now.

2010 = KP in NCA. Anything that would be of interest other than the stock Monterey/Santa Cruz/Stevinson venues?

I might vote for:

1) Monarch Dunes/La Purisma......Central Cal

This gets my vote.

Add Marshallia Ranch and it would be awesome.  La P and Marshallia are 10 minutes from each other.  Everyone can stay in Buellton and pretend to be in Sideways.

Great to hear some appreciation for Marshalia, I started playing there when it was Air Force only and really love the course.

If the central coast thing doesn't work out, I would love to see somebody set up something at Cal Club after all the threads about the course redo.
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

We sit home and cry.
Check the history of TKP, artfully set forth on the website... notice the gap....

sorry Huck, no private club connections, that's why I play in all those NCGA member private club access tourneys. I am happy to pay guest fees though if I am invited. ;)

Well hell, why not suggest Lake Merced, OC, and SFGC while you are at it?

My thought was that since there has been so much work done on Cal Club that they might want to show it off to a bunch of big mouths that could get the word around how good it is now.  ;D
I played a college tourney on Cal Club and Lake Merced and they were quite a bit friendlier than SFCC. 8)

Tim,

Why set your sights so low...why not just shoot for CPC?  I'm sure they'd be willing to let us have a run of the place for a few days.  ::)  ::)

In these kinds of threads best to suggest and hope for the realistic over the pipe dream as well as give mucho thanks to gents like Bob H. and Peter W for thier being gracious in hosting us for KP.
