Ian,

If Harry Oakes saw the hole as shown in your PhotoShop'd image, I think he would have indeed been shocked  :o

Jeff,

Do you mean Harry Thorton

...or are you refering to that great story of Stanley being hit by a ball stuck by Harry Oaks where he approaches him and says, "Are you the famous architect Stanley Thompson - you should come build a course for me'

I love that story - it may be the funiest tale of them all... ;D

Is it just me, or is anyone else becoming just slightly aroused by this thread?

Ian,
I'm actually really enjoying the thrust of your argument. Perhaps if you could approach to the climax of the activity, we could all release, light up a stogie and bathe in our own reflected glory.

Is there any way we could see the original tee shot view as it seems to me that that would be the definitive vision of the hole upon which the possibly erroneous opinion was based?

cheers,
FBD.

Marty,

This is the only one I know of:

I'm hoping my friend Alan can find something new to put this to "bed". ;D

We know this photo is real early since Stanley had not yet come back to do the bunker renovations after finishing Banff Springs

What we don't know is whether this is the first year - or sometime in between the renovation and opening - which would mean that the hole could have already been altered.

If pressed to make a decision with what I know so far - I think the bunkers were there and the story is a wonderful tall tale.

But the thread does make you wonder a little...
