Once again, holler if you hate turkey. I have my porterhouse steak halfway down my gullet. Happy Thanksgiving, and have fun watching football, playing with the kids, and getting in some golf if possible.
This is some thread, Jay! A dialogue about turkey morphs to a college football game men's restroom "encounter."
Yes, that was definitely strange. But it's OK, because it's always good to see Shivas on a thread
Bausch, you read my mind about the Porterhouse. I typed that twice, but thought before I hit send:)
...and I want them chop chop.
Chip, what do you use to marinate yours? I threw some oregano and Italian spices and cayenne on it. Next year I'll do coriander and cumin with mango salsa. We had 16 people this year, 18 when one more pair of cousins came in, so then we had one for every hole on a golf course.
We had some different things this year. Brother William! Instead of sausage roll, we put the sausage roll filling - with lots of cheese - in a wonton. That was cool. Then we had tortilla soup for a first course. Then it morphed back to Italian: antipasto (pronounced "aunt-i-PAHST"
, then roasted reds with mozzarella (pronounced "moots-a-DELL"
and olives. Then the traditional turkey and trimmings (READ: PORTERHOUSE!), my mom's candied yams and pineappple.
Then we hit the dessert TABLE. That's right: Table. Cousin Teri had 12 pies, and we had birthday cake for my dad's 85th. (2 pumpkin, 2 low-fat pumpkin, banana cream, blackberry, lemon merangue, pecan, low-fat lemon, chocolate mousse, low-fat chocolate mousse, and something I can't remember that little Baby Eddie stuck his finger in...)
We had a ball. Hope you did too.
