Our gang of 8 who went to Scotland in June played a match against 8 Golspie members during that trip. I can testify that 1) Golspie is a very fun course in very good condition, and 2) that the Golspie members are a welcoming and congenial bunch. David has a flat close to the first tee at Dornoch but has chosen to be an overseas member at Golspie, which I can fully understand and appreciate.
The holes are on very diverse terrain, with a few along a strand on good linksland, a few in a heathery area, and a few in a parkland setting. Fun stuff with a great variety of holes - two short par 4s with absolutely blind approaches, several lengthy par 4s, short par 3s, a couple of back to back longer par 3s.....there is a lot of golf at Golspie.
Congratulations to their young superintendent, who keeps that course in very good condition, firm and bouncy, and is on the way up in his industry.
Thanks for posting David, and thanks again for setting up the match with John Davies and his gang. By the way, the ladies of the club made lunch for us after the match. It was a wonderful day.
