I thought Cruden Bay to be a huge disappointment . I just did not get it I guess , very pretty to be sure but that in my opinion was all it had . I know many will think I am nuts ...... and you probably have a point !
Firm greens, firmer fairways.

I was disappointed in Bethpage Black and also thought Sahalee was quite overrated.

Unfortunately I have not found enough courses to knock Seminole out of my top 10, but I'd image it will happen in the next few years.

These are all courses that I have played for the first in the last 18 months that would of been a good chance of making my top 10 back then.

Royal Portrush
Portmarnock
Olympic Club
Sunningdale (New)
Royal St Georges
The Creek
Maidstone
East Hampton
Baltusrol  (lower)
Quaker Ridge
Pacific Dunes
Bandon Dunes
Bandon Trails
Eugene
Valderama

I guess these lists are a indication of how lucky we have all been to play many great courses.

Though I agonized over this for hours, neither the Pacific Grove Muni nor the Jans nor even the lighted 9 hole course just south of SFO made my top 10.
You need to get that name down.  MARINER'S POINT.  Site of many happy hours.  You shoulda been there when they had the putting course... it was never more than 50 yards from the bar.

Baltusrol (lower)
Royal County Down
Royal Portrush (Dunluce and Valley)
Castlerock
Sleepy Hollow
Quaker Ridge
LACC (North)

Pinehurst #2 (not in my top-50)

all of the first 8 I found to be delightful courses but I just had 10 others I enjoy playing more.  Pinehurst #2 I found to be over-rated and way overpriced.  I enjoyed #4 and #8 more (but #7 less).

Reynolds Plantation (The Oconee)- Flat greens, poor routing, ZERO memorable holes, 1 large breasted cart girll.

Colleton River (Nicklaus) Played it 1x about 5 years ago and was not that impressed from what I remember, could say more about me than the course though.  I have played the Dye (10 years ago) and to this day it may be my favorite course I have ever played and I remember most everything about that.

Torrey Pines- The most average golf course in the most beautiful location I have ever played.

Poipu Bay (Hawaii) 15 boring lowsy muni like golf holes followed by 3 holes that are as spectacular as 7,8, and 9 at Pebble.  3 holes does not make a golf course.

Hawks Ridge- Overhyped, good..yes, Top 100....give me a break.  It is in great shape, it has that going for it...which is nice.  But that is it, 18 is now and probably will be forever the worst hole I have ever played.

The Cliffs at Glassy (Jackson)- It has a couple of holes with pretty views; whoppy doo, it is a crazy piece of land but is just very average and very typical billy goat golf.

Why is anyone replying to this thread with a list of courses without any explanation?  Could you be more BORING  :-\

If Maidstone, Pine Valley, Augusta, or TOC is not in your top 10 please say why; if you can't then don't post.  90% of the people on this board  do not know you personally so seeing a list of courses typed out is ridiculous.  If you aren't going to say why, then A. Your Chicken Shat and B. Your probably wearing panties.

Grow a pair and maybe an interesting discussion could take place.
