New Pete Dye Book
« on: October 17, 2008, 10:35:33 PM »
Hey all,

I've been on the road doing a little family vacation so I picked up the new Pete Dye book for the flight by our very own Joel Zuckerman. (I played a round with the guy, so I think he's legit)   ;D

Anyways this new book is pretty dang good and as best as I can tell pretty comprehensive of his work.  And its a pretty good read to boot, much to my kids chagrine as they want me to put it down and go boogie boarding in the waves!  8)

For those who are interested he's selling these at a discount on his site and you could probably get a signed one if you ask real nice. http://www.vagabondgolfer.com/pete_dye_golf_book_joel_zuckerman.htm.

Cheers,

Kalen

Thanks for the nice comment Kalen, though my new Dye Book is not exactly "airplane material" at 300 pages and 4 pounds!

The book looks great, I'm happy to report, and early reviews are very strong.  Here's a link to Golf World's recent take:

In honor of it's release, and my upcoming interview on this site, I would like to make what I hope is a "hard to resist" offer to GCA denizens.  No need to bore those without interest on this thread, but if you send an email to info@vagabondgolfer.com with the letters GCA in the subject line, I'll fill you in on an offer that will hopefully be of interest.  Thank you!

That sounds like a great big book! I will attest to another of Joel's books being 'fit' for airplane travel as I've been reading it just now while flying to Tampa to play in the Dixie Cup (just landed!)--this book is Golf In The Lowcountry and it's a fun read about a place I used to call home and will always love.
Joel - I'm still bummed we didn't get to play the other day, hope you all had fun-it was a glorious day.

Thanks for the nice comment, Eric.  I suppose the Dye Book is fit for airplane travel..assuming you're in the front of the bus!  (In coach it might be a bit intrusive.)

As stated previously, anyone who wants a personally inscribed copy, please drop me a line at info@vagabondgolfer.com with the letters GCA in the subject line, and I'll hopefully be able to make your holiday shopping a little easier.

I got my priorities right when I pack.....clothes or golf books.  Hmmm, who needs clothes on vacation.   ;D

I agree, I thought it was terrific.  I haven't had a chance to write up a review yet, but I'll get to it.  The photographs are terrific and the prose skillfully weaves architecture discussion with general discussions of the natural settings, and the stories behind many courses getting b uilt, so it something for everyone.

Congratulations, Joel, great work.
