Gee, I wasn't even going to look into this thread as it's a subject covered many many times before in here... then I find it's at least in the beginning about ME!

Interesting... or not.   ;D

Hey, I'll play with anyone.  I've met very few people I wouldn't play with again.

So me and Melvyn, that would be fantastic.  We'd do one round walking at Askernhish, then another at THE RANCH over here... with a cart available for us on the 4th hole at the latter, as my point would have been proven by then.  We'd then get beyond proving points, and I'd get him the hell off that awful golf course and we'd go have some fun elsewhere.

Glad to see others moved beyond me and Melvyn anyway!

My dream foursome is likely my Dad, Bob Huntley, Dan Kelly and Gene Greco.  I'd caddie for my Dad.  I'd figure out a good topic to start the conversation, then sit back and watch the incredible wit that would follow.

Dan Kelly?  Did he get in Sutton Bay or join Ballyneal?

Anthony-
I hope you took my post as what it was meant to be, i.e., just a gentle joke.

Ok, Then you are our fourth. Tom Doak stays too busy. After your brother's divorce he can be your caddie. TOC it is!!! You me Melvyn and Tom H.

Good one, John.  But sorry I ruined your theory.  I tried to think of the 3 wittiest people I know from this forum, and those are the ones.
But that did give me a chuckle.

Damn though... thinking about this more... I have to get Mucci in that group.  I need a fivesome.

Because it's just a dream, it would have to be my wife, my son and my daughter.

Henry,

What is the backstory on that choice?

“Toss out Melvyn” Well, you could have been kinder, fully understand, but to show no respect or consideration for others seems to reflect the modern player (notice I did not call you a golfer – you have to earn respect to be given that title – no, only kidding). Toss in the UK has a sexual connotation but I will not go into detail.

            Dream Matches (Over 2 x 36 holes)

Old Tom           v       My Father
Young Tom      v         Tiger Woods
James Hunter  v         Myself
J O F Morris     v         My Brother

Venue TOC & Prestwick

Tom

First you have to get me to the States and I don't thinks that is going to happen, not for a long while as I am still enjoying the UK courses and am not looking for anything else at the moment. Also I may get confuses over the  rules of American Golf ;) Am I right that you call your clubs rackets and that you shout at umpires if the ball land outside the line - a sort of out of bounds, but still want a point, sorry seem to be loosing the spirit or is it artistry, if that is the right word to use.

Melvyn:  methinks among the many other culture shocks you would find here, the interperation of the rules by most common-folk would be among the most shocking.  You're not far off.   ;D ;D

You want wit? That's wit. (It's not often that a guy can elbow two guys at once!)

Thanks for the offer, Tom IV -- but I think I'd rather caddie, too. I'll carry Bob's bag, if he'll have me.

Ok Dan - then you caddie for Huntley, me for my Dad, and Mucci takes the 4th playing spot.  Only you get to speak and chime in.  I practice for months in preparation for my role of shutting the hell up and listening.

TH

ps - thank you for proving once again my choice is a wise one.

pss to Henry E - I really like your thinking here. All the best.

If your daughter could be given a one day cure, where would you take her and would it be golfing or some other activity.

That's simple.  Because it would only be one day, we would sit her down and ask her how to help her cope when she reverted back the next day.  That would probably take a couple of hours.  After that, I'd let her decide the rest of the day and at 17, I sure wouldn't be surprised if she didn't want to spend the day with her father.

A strange topic, might as well make a list of the Top 10 people you have played with so that we can all be impressed ...

But quite frankly, Melvyn might be wearing off on me, as I have the opportunity each and every time I play golf, to play with a "dream" foursome.  Whether it is my two son's, friends from the hood or many of the fine gentlemen here on GCA, I do play most of golf with the people who I want to play with ...
"... and I liked the guy ..."

Mr. Benham's wit and wisdom earns him a place in my group as well.  He can caddie for Greco.

 ;D

Henry, you darn well need to be there also.  You caddie for Mucci.  God help you.  But we need your soul and wisdom for sure.

TH

ps - the venue is Stone Eagle.  ;)

I'd caddie for my Dad so he could play with his favorite:  Lee Buck Trevino.  I'd add Bobby Jones and a healthy Tiger Woods just so I could watch the former spank the latter to end the great argument once and for all.

Maybe I've already had mine.  Years ago I shot my career best 68 while playing with my Dad and two uncles, one of which was a Green Beret and the other of which fought in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

My current dream foursome would look something like this:

me, myself, I, and my dog.

Pebble Beach or The Old Course?

Me, and Tiger Woods.
Goal, get Tiger and Melvyn to talk the spirit of the game in hopes that Tom might learn something.
TOC of course.

Amended on late breaking news. Me, and Tommy Nac. ;)

I am always open to learning.
I'd just hope that the others in the group would be as well.  Including you.  You do know Tommy tends to ride when he plays, right?  And if there is anyone more connected to the spirit of the game, I've yet to meet him.

Great example.  Thanks for proving my point.

PS, You know Tommy Nac has made an effort to get out of the cart and walk more don't you?

I would assume that you are open to learning, as I hope you assumed I would be.

And as for Tommy N., I believe he's just like me in this respect:  prefers to walk, plays out of a cart when necessary.

As for the rest, well... let's just say we each can learn and we can end this.
