Let's ring up another high quality course from this state.

I must say, however, that based on my name, they might
not let me play here, thinking I was an old "enemy".

Proving to be a little tougher than I suspected, although I
knew it would be moderately tough.

I bet the rough here yields lots of Flyers.

If your receipt from a purchase has an error, they have no
one to blame but themselves.

A neighboring course also gets it's share of props, though it's
not quite as well known.  Also, no one at the neighboring
course is ever in a hurry, as things move at a glacial pace (if
any one figures out that clue, send me an e-mail or IM, and
I'll give you your own props).

I forgot another one.

One of the best series of commercials I ever saw were for
Rally's drive-thru burgers about 10-12 years ago, harping on
the nickel-and-dimeing expense at other FF burger joints.  
The famous slogan for those commercials would make people
at this course proud.

The two who posted know it.  One even gave it away
 already.  EDIT: Now two have given it away.



Two majors were held at this course.

Apparently this wasn't the Wright area to launch oneself in
the air for the first time for 12 seconds.  Had to travel SE to do it.

Well, its easy enough now... I even get the glacial clue :)

I am always interested to hear anyone's opinion of the career and work of the archie here.  The height of his work was at a low for architecture... where does that leave him in the history of golf course design?

Along with Gary and Ray, the other John Miller has fond memories of this course.  He cashed a ticket to Augusta here a few years ago.

I always seemed to hit OB right on #1
during the Junior World tournament.   :P  
I always liked this golf course although
I haven't ever heard people rave about
it from an architectural standpoint.  Its
one of the few courses that I can think
of that has zero water hazards, if I
remember correctly.

Actually there is one water hazard to the left of #5 I believe.  I remember seeing the red stakes there while refereeing some matches a few years ago.

The other course there is a lot of fun, but rather short for today's equipment and players.

This is National Cash Register CC, better known as NCR, in
Kettering, OH, and was designed by Dick Wilson.  NCR
hosted the 1969 PGA Championship, won by Ray Floyd
(Player runner-up), and 1986 Women's Open, won by Jane
Geddes.

clues include:

"ring up", "register","receipt"="cash register"
references=Rally's commercials' famous "Cha-ching!"

also, "insea are" posted a message, giving it away.

Me (Burroughs) as old "enemy" = Burroughs Corp., a former
cash register company that merged with another company to
become Unisys.

"Flyers" = nearby U. of Dayton Flyers and also (I think) stunt
air team HQ'd at Dayton's airport.

"Wright" launch for 12 seconds= Wright brothers' first flight,
who hailed from Dayton, but went SE to Outer Banks for
winds to fly.

"glacial" clue referring to neighboring course=Moraine CC, as
moraine is earthen debris that gets carried by glaciers and
then is deposited elsewhere.

I assume there must have been some incident at '69 PGA
between Player and Floyd.

The John Miller referred to in my post was John "Spider" Miller who won his second US Mid-Amateur Championship at NCR in 1998 for a return trip to the Masters.
