A damaged landscape in an incredible location with enormous potential.

I would give my eye teeth to work on this site. What fun could be had playing with the landscape character and language of the existing landforms. Imagine getting the chance to create a great golf course in this neighbourhood. Almost as good an opportunity as The Castle ;D

Tom,
only just been announced in today's news. Fairly well-known brownfield site in the Scottish, ehm, 'Portfolio'. Was a grotty 'explosives' complex for years on a tremendous site on the Ayrshire coast. You know only too well it's near neighbours!

The developers are beginning with a ten-year dev plan with housing, commercial and light industrial uses for the first tranche. The leisure elements are intended to complement and enhance the job creation and economic revival stuff.

Could be really brilliant. Drop them a line if you're interested. We could do with a Doak on the West side ;)

Have you checked out that West Lothian site recently? Really innovative use of the old colliery spoil for their sub-soil mix. Seems to be almost ideal as a medium with good drainage capabilities and surprisingly neutral pH after 'washing/mixing'. Quite surprising given the nature of the original mess!

Holy smokes, they actually have a golf course right on that peninsula as part of their master plan.

Brownfield history erases enviro concerns, town all in favor of anything that creates jobs, great site -- okay, what's the catch?

I'm almost certain that's Irvine Golf Club, known locally as Bogside, one of the lesser-known courses in an area rich w/ courses -- Troon, Prestwick, Western Gailes, Glasgow Gailes, Kilmarnock and a few others are all nearby. It dates to 1887, and its design is largely the work of James Braid. Some details from the club website:

I was just reading about a new Scottish links course by DMK called 'The Ayrshire'...

...Know anything of this, Martin?.... It had passed me by until this week...

Ardeer and the Ayrshire course are two seperate but nearby properties. It both could be bought along with Dundonald which is on the market then you would have a Scottish Bandon. Now theres an idea but then I suspect someone has already had that idea.

Unfortunately I'm crap at all the techno stuff like posting but if you look at google earth, the strip of ground north of Western Gailes is the property designated for the Ayrshire while the peninsula to the north of that is the Ardeer property, a much better propostion.
