What a great tournament.  More of us should try to play in this.

Just how should we try to play in this?  Do you mean we should all get down to scratch and move to either Maryland or Virginia so we can try to play?  If so, no thanks, I'd just assume stay in Pennsylvania.  By the way, the Golf Association of Philadelphia plays matches against the Middle Atlantic Golf Association and has since the early 1950s.  The GAP has an overwhelming winning percentage.

Don't be so quick to a decision, Wayne.  You wouldn't have to totally forfeit Philadelphia. You clearly haven't heard about the prizes awarded in the Potomac Cup.

Winners - 1 week all expenses paid trip to Philadelphia
Losers    - 2 weeks all expenses paid trip to Philadelphia

Isn't this basically just a local carts and beers tournament sponsored by a radio station? Why is this even a topic? I'm from Virginia, and even I have absoloutely no interest in this event.

Cabell,

I've played on the Philadelphia side of these type of events a few times and would say that yes, there is no reason other Philadelphians should have much interest, but it is more competitive than a local cart and beer event...

JES,
I'm not sure this is the same kind of event that you played in. This isn't an event sponsored by any official golf association. I honestly think it's sponsored by a local radio station and a few daily fee golf courses. I can assure you that these guys are not even close to the best that Virginia (or just Northern Virginia) has to offer. Most (if not all) probably couldn't even QUALIFY for the state am or open.

I've already wasted more time on this topic than I should...

I guess I'll take the For Sale sign down from my house and remain in Pennsylvania.   Yet it must be Flemma's kind of tournament.  I wonder why he thinks more of us (How about any of us?) should try to play in it.   Like Cabell, I've wasted more time on this thread than I should.

Seemingly, this thread is just another promotion for his blog.

Wayne,

How dare you speak ill of this tournament this way.

If you scroll to the bottom of this page, you will clearly see this is a legit golf tournament that is not about middle-aged fat guys and beer guzzling!! ;)

I didn't speak ill of the tournament, however, after checking out the website you posted, it is a bogus event worthy of zero consideration by anyone on this site.  It is a first come, first serve sign up event.  It would slightly improve if the beer was included and guzzling encouraged.

For a tournament pitting MD teams vs. VA teams, it is funny that the tournament was in PA last year.  I don't see much legit about this.  Now if you will excuse me, I wasted enough of my time on this blog promotion thread.  At least I didn't bother to read Flemma's write up.  That would have been a real waste of time.  ;)

Dude what are you talking about?

Wayne, when I said more of us, I meant more living in MarVa.

By the way Wayne, you're talking out your ass again, the tournament is supported by both the MD and VA GAs, is sanctioned by the MAPGA, and uses their rules officials, and its not first come first served, there are two grueling qualifiers where well-under-par scores are the only ones that have a chance. Moreover PGA officials love the event, know many of the players (Welch, badawy, Phattiyakul, Romano, etc.) as Winners of the state ams, team events, USGA event participants, and members of the college golf teams like Umd routinely play in it.    They chose PA as a neutral site and because Joe Hardy was kind enough to have the event at Nemacolin, site of a tour stop.  But thanks for shooting your mouth off again without know what your talking about.
