Athens CC has not been. My understanding is that only a few holes at Lookout were restored, though I haven't kept close tabs the last couple of years.

Donald Ross' Roseland GC in Windsor, On.

Start off with chainsaws for about a month, then widen the fairways to original design, complete bunker renovation on all bunkers.  Greens have been reduced to almost a fraction of the original design, eliminating a lot of contour.  Get rid of the rough around the greens and shave the approaches and surrounds.

The City of Windsor should be ashamed of what they have allowed this course to become.

Last 'restoration' work at Lookout Mountain was in 1998.  This involved Silva's restoration of many of the fairways bunkers (approx 50) and renovation of many greenside bunkers.  Work also involved new (restoration) green,  the double plateau at the 17th and a new green (restoration) for the 12th Alps.

Since then,  a few new tees have been added to lengthen some holes.

In addition,   many trees have been eliminated in the last 5 years so that the lookout about the course is much improved.

Recent 2007/08 discussions have centered about a few remaining bunkers to be restored, discussions of additional greens restoration work, irrigation, etc.      IMO, a few greens 'restored' out to the fill pads, notably the 3rd, 9th, and 15th, would also be welcomed.

Based on only one play,   Michigan's beloved Belvedere GC could use some assistance with respect to bunker restoration.    I heard the Michigan Amateur is going back to Belvedere in 4 or 5 years.

Mike, honestly, I liked Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club even better...the greens have more internal movement.

Personally, I think it is a travisty what happened there just based on the three holes published in Golf Architecture in America, no's 1, 11 and 16. To see the Bell (?) bunkering in the 1938 USGS just adds insult to injury.

I don't think that could ever happen.  The original CC of Buffalo extended across Bailey (US 62) to where SUNY/Buffalo (my alma mater) is currently located.

What you now see as Grover Cleveland GC is not a leftover from the 1912 US Open course.

LACC North is going to have a ton of work done to it starting in February 2009.  If the course turns out like the plans, it is going to be amazing.

It's been a while since I've been to Gibson Island, but what you've said about homes is interesting because it didn't appear to be an issue during my last visit.  I may have to make a visit there this fall, it was quite a site.  If the land is there for a total restoration, I'm sure the enviros in Maryland would not be happy.

Oyster Harbors at one time had a lot of exposed sand, as opposed to wall to wall grass now a days - wild greens too.

Columbia CC in DC would be really good if they brought back its old self. Westmoreland in Chicago looks cool in old pictures - lots of very large bunkers. Ponte Vedra was Herbert Strong's last great course. It could probably be restored.
