Why don't more designers simply utilise the ages old Haha expedient for hiding crossing cart paths?

Martin - does it cost more to do it the right way?

Dan,
not a penny more. Just more clever fill/cut in the area of the path.

Mark,
then consider me the latest Fazio convert ;)

The cool thing is that if you build it deep enough, you can take relief from the cart path by dropping your ball from about 1 inch above the ground.

Martin -

In walking the new Castle Stuart course with Mark Parsinen last month, it was clear that great care has been taken in grading the slopes of the fairways and setting the heights of the tees so that the visibility of any paths/service roads on the course would be minimized. The good news is they have been able to do this without resorting to creating distracting/awkward mounding to hide the paths.

A quick Autocad drawing has just indicated that on level ground from an eye level of 1.6m, a 2m wide cart path with a kerb depth of .2m, 80m away from the viewer could be rendered invisible with a rise in the ground before it of only 80mm.
