Chris,

I'm very familar with Peachtree and played it a lot while in college. Perhaps I'm using the old adage that a blind shot is only blind the first time you play it. I never really thought of 3, 5, 10, 12,17 and 18 as blind. Uphill yes.

Regardless, Peachtree and Settindown are both fine tests, each having their own strengths, weaknesses and strategic merits, however, I still prefer East Lake's shot values to both.

After 18 holes of qualifying and 36 holes of medal play at Settindown during the  State Am, I'm still trying to get over that clausterphobic feeling the course gives you with a pencil and scorecard in your pocket.

Kirk,
As someone posted very early in the thread, you should have seen Settindown when it first opened and the fescue areas were left waist high.  It was often questionable whether one would have enough golf balls to complete the round, but for all the lost balls that you found looking for your own.  Believe it or not, it is a MUCH softer course now.

Glad to see this little thread do more than it was ever intended for.  ;D I think this is whats great about this site is that everyone here has plenty of information to spill if you simply ask the right questions about their little corner of the world. Thank you all for all the Atlanta/Georgia comparisons and insights to Settindown and the rest.
Did you know World Woods has the best burger I've ever had in my entire life? I'm planning a trip back just for another one between rounds.

Paul,

Lookout Mountain over Settindown by 4 eyelashes.

Settindown is a sterner test.  Lookout wins on creativity.

Both are really fine courses.
THE NEXT SEVEN:  Alfred E. Tupp Holmes Municipal Golf Course, Willi Plett's Sportspark and Driving Range, Peachtree, Par 56, Browns Mill, Cross Creek, Piedmont Driving Club
