Canadian Open To Join European Tour
« on: April 02, 2008, 07:02:27 AM »
According to Score golf's Bob Weeks this seems to be more than rumour. Personally I can't believe it has come to this. What will the results of this be if it happens? It seems that even for Weir and Ames to get the PGA's okay to play in their own open is not a sure thing. All the RCGA wanted was a better date something that the PGA was not even willing to discuss.

Thompson golf holes were created to look as if they had always been there and were always meant to be there.

Don,

Kyle's right. This is Bob's attempt at an April Fool's Day prank!

It would have been funnier if it had been taken down before I checked the site this morning. Not having looked at the site yesterday, this was the headline that struck me at 7 am AST today April 2.

Too bad - the European Tour probably would show it more respect than the PGA Tour.

Even if it was April Fools, it would make sense to get a better date and better field!

It was a great joke, the more I think about it, the more I wish it wasn't a joke.

I'm all for the idea, the field would be much improved, the attendance would surely jump if fans were able to see a variety of players from various countries, with their unique styles, personalities, playing characteristics, as opposed to... I'll be kind.

My only concern would be regarding the western sites, would they curbed in the interest of limiting flight times.  The RCGA could concern itself a bit more with site selection and architecture and less of the PGA Tour's corporate demands.

The week before the PGA, even better for the Europeans to come in a week early and play in a prestigious championship.

I'm on the bandwagon.

I'd be for it, provided that they stipulate that Hamilton GC would be the site at lest every 3 years. ;D
