Ben,

Were all the rakes inside the bunkers?  I wonder if the R&A will give the same recommendation as USGA for rakes being place outside the bunkers.

Great Pics. Thanks for posting.

The club is considering lengthening the course for the 2012 Open - Mackenzie and Ebert are the design consultants. It has been suggested that Hole 7 and 11 will get new greens. I would have converted 6 into a 490 yard par 4 rather than a par 5. Hole 15 and 17 could be lengthened to just over 500 yards. That would bring the course to over 7000 yards with a par of 70.

The 2008 Lytham Trophy takes place in early May.

Paul,

The bunker rake head should be inside the bunker and the handle outside it as at most courses in England. This particular rake was put back in bunker wrongly as I was actually in that bunker!.

Ben,

A nice set of photos looks like you had a perfect early spring day. I love the photos of #8 which is a great shortish par 4. RL&StA look like they keep their revetting up to date the usual life span of a bunker is around 10 years so most clubs need to do between 10 and 20 a year to keep everything looking good.

Ben - Great photos! I played there in a driving rainstorm with Andrew Mitchell (the Baildon Butcher)... it's lovely to actually see the course in the sunlight!!!

A great set of pictures.  The bunkering at Lytham is superb (although perhaps excessive).  The first nine is a tough ask into the wind.

Mike
I still have happy memories of that day at Lytham despite the soaking.  At least the weather was consistent when we were there - we went out in a rainstorm and it didn't relent!
2014 to date: not actually played anywhere yet!
Still to come: Hollins Hall; Ripon City; Shipley; Perranporth; St Enodoc
