This is another area where golf in the States is so very different then in the UK.  Clubs here have dormy houses which tend to be quite basic.  In the States many are called lodges, cabins or cottages.

Other clubs with a dormy hooos - Beau Desert, Rye & Porthcawl.  I am not sure if Co Louth was mentioned either.  I believe Sandwich has a few rooms, but I don't know how they are used.

Golf Digest made a ranking of best golf retreats, which is any private club with on property lodging.  Here is the link: http://www.golfdigestpromotions.com/worldsgreatest/Rolexcvr_booklet_final.pdf

The list of top retreats is on the very last page of this

As previously said, Olympia Fields has rooms.....about 30 of them in the clubhouse.

Wolf Run is the most fun I've had, 20 yards away from the 1st tee.  Huge putting green outside the lodge's door with a giant fire pit.  A couple friends, few pints of beer, deck of cards and the thought of a full day of golf ahead.....heaven.

Although it might not be considered ' lodging ' the ' sleep room ' at Marine Drive GC can be used in the mens locker room to get some rest after a big night in the mens Bull Pen lounge.
Firm greens, firmer fairways.

My favorite golf weekend ever was a weekend with some friends at Lost Dunes. We stayed in the cabins there and you couldn't ask for a better set-up. It's the perfect way to spend the evening with friends after a couple rounds of golf.

Barwon Heads in Coastal Victoria, a beautiful old world club house that is very popular with sandbelt members.

Victoria, as previously mentioned, is probably the best place to base yourself for sandbelt golf.

one of my fav's is Claremont CC in Oakland.  A beautiful McKenzie course. (very short at about 5500 yds with x'ing fairways).  There's an amazing hotel on the property built in the early 1900's with a ton of rooms that probably never get used.

Other fav's are Bandon (have to take a shuttle to the 1st) and Cypress (4 rooms btwn 18 and 1)

I don't think these have been mentioned:

Ocean Forest on Sea Island has 3 or 4 town houses adjacent to the club available to members/guests.  Of course, all the facilities of the Cloister and Sea Island are also nearby.

Squire Creek (Louisiana) has some nice guest cottages.

Double Eagle has 4 or 5 cabins on-site, each with a common area and 4 bedrooms. Someone told me once that Tiger stays there during The Memorial, as he would be steps away from practice facilities, and the closest home would be half a mile away.
