Crazy question (and sorry for the hijack, but I think it's already been hijacked to a Strantz thread):

Does anyone know the name of Strantz's two dogs there?  (I'm a dog lover and have an odd interest in what people name their canines).

Thanks

Yes...the dog on the left is Sophie.  Even though she looks like a lab in this portrait, Sophie is really a Golden Retriever.  The dog on the right is Greta, also a Golden.  She passed away last summer.  The horse is Mike's favorite, Degas.  (pronounced like Vegas).

You're right...we should recommend some other work as well.  Charleston is rich in excellent golf.  CC Charleston is terrific.  When I walked it backwards, the light went on...the bunkering looked like WWI foxholes.

I haven't had the pleasure of Yeaman's yet, but am dying to try after seeing CCC.  I'll take a chance and recommend it blind.  Most people I know that have played it seem to love and revere it.

Jason, not for nothing, but my circle of friends and family all name our pets after geographical locales.  Durban the Rhodesian Ridgeback, Boston the Boxer, etc...

Would like any opinions on any of the following courses in the Charleston area.  Trying to do a little research for a trip.  Any info or comparisons would be appreciated.

Caledonia, Wild Dunes, True Blue, Briar's Creek, Daniel Island (both courses)

Played the Daniel Island Ralston Creek course last year...was less than inspired by it.  Nationwide Tour played there for one year and left...not sure why.

Personally I'd skip it and hit others mentioned above.  What about Yeaman's Hall?

Evan,
So Daniel Island didn't do anything for you?  Is the Ralston Creek course the Rees or the Fazio?  I've played Yeamans and would return there in a second but the option isn't available.  Have you heard anything regarding Briar's Creek?  I see that gets a lot of publicity and rankings.

-Brian

It is the Rees course.  A lot of housing around the front nine...back was a bit better since it played out into the marshes, but overall it felt rather hum-drum.

As for Briar's Creek...can't help you.  Have only been to Charleston once, and played the above course plus another little place near the "Ocean".   8) ::)
