I went out and watched JB start his round on #10 at Poppy Hills today.
On 10, into a slight breeze, he flew the bunker on the right and the grassy hollow beyond it. Unfortunately his ball hung in the rough and he had 205 into the green so only about 310 off the tee. From there he hit it into the front bunker, blew it into the back bunker and made bogey 6. He parred #11 and then on 12 hit a 5-wood that went through the fairway and into the trees from where he made bogey. I was a little surprised he didn't take driver on 12 and knock it over the trees. Perhaps he didn't figure out where to aim it in a practice round.
One thing for sure, he needs to seriously work on his pre-shot routine. He took about 1:30 or more to hit a couple of those shots. And on the putting green on #10 he froze behind the ball looking at the break for more than 30 seconds and took well over a minute to hit his par putt.
