I agree.  They sure didn't look right seeing them.. and I really don't get the value they add, either.  Hmmm.....

Tom, My belief is that the changes that the recent owners have made show a total disrespect for the GCA. When the Japanese owned it, they showed amazing stewardship.

I played Sunday and the 18th did not appear damaged to me.  Some sponge water just off the greens but that was it.

About the 5th, it didn't seem out of character to me with the rest of the course.

I'm surprised no one is mentioning the bottomless pit of the center fairway bunker on the second short of the green some 60+ out.  Tough up and down from down there, but I liked it.

The bunkers on the 3rd are just pure intimidation.  Can't tell what it used to be.  Were there any bunkers on that opposite side of the fairway?  Land right of them like I did and an even more intimidating site from there to the green.  Got lucky with my 7W and was on in 2 :-)

I heard the 18th took a bad pounding from this week's storm(s).

Bunker's on the outside edge of the 3rd hole's diagonal sounds like a horrible addition to an otherwise perfectly placed hole.

I do not recall exactly when the new ownership took over, as it pertains to the creation of the new 5th. If it was under the new group, it was very early on. I suspect the ball had been rolling before that sale.
