Scottish Golf Club of America circa 1909
« on: October 11, 2007, 02:10:22 PM »
Anybody ever here of it?

It is mentioned in an article from Jan of 1909. The holes are to be long and famous holes of foreign links will be duplicated. Sure sounds like NGLA.

My first reaction was towards NGLA, but that is  not the case.

Sounds like a very quick atttempt at copying another course, as NGLA opened right around this time. It  must have made an impression on the transplanted Scots playing golf in the US.

Interesting find...Scotty Chisholm was a member.

It looks like the course may have changed back to its original name or it is another NLE.

Wow! Cool stuff Sean! Was this found in Amercian Gofler or Golf Illustrated? Does it mention where it was located?

Here are some links to articles mentioning the club. The 2nd one mentions Hayworth N.J as the location, lists the planned hole lengths and some of the founders.
