Interesting to see how many of you are into hockey! Especially the Wings. The original six are still special.

As as kid, I loved the Dodgers and the Orioles, especially when the Vancouver Mounties were the AAA farm team for the latter and sent Chuck Estrada, Ron Hansen, Jim Gentile, Joe Durham, Frank Torre and many more up to the bigs. Lived nearby while growing up and shagged balls with them. I cannot get into it so much now as the money in organized sports has become too all consuming. Golf is the only game where performance seems to matter year to year.

Brad, I have a black Labrador Retriever under my desk right now so I know what you mean.

Obviously kids, wife etc.

Otherwise, as a boring lawyer practicing in the field of construction litigation,I look to GCAtlas and the game generally to give me some space. I really need golf and I really love GCA! Met some fine people and look forward to logging on whenever I can. Otherwise, I really am not into anything a lot. As I said, boring.

Nice photo; great trim! There was a documentary made a couple years back called "Unsalted", about surfing the Great Lakes which featured Joe Curren (Tom Curren's brother....TC is to surfers what Hogan is to golfers). Might be of interest to the cheesehead crowd. My interests, in no order:

- Surfing (Trestles or Salt Creek when waves are acceptable)
- Mining & civil engineering....spending enough time at work to "figure it out"
- SCU basketball....if and when they ever get good again

....we will require increased donations from certain GCA folk to make this happen
- Spoiling my wife

I'm passionate about my kids, but all the rest (including golf) fade into mere spheres of interest by comparison. I'd crack my last bottle of Cheval Blanc 1947 over the head of anybody who tried to harm one of my children, but would not give my last 10 cases of that plonk to anybody who offered me a pre-Masters game at Augusta with Tiger, Nicklaus and the King in return.

What's up with that remark at the bottom of your posts about Moe Norman. I realize everthing he said he said twice but other than that why is he your hero?

Did you realize that in Moe's mind if he didn't hit at least two flags during a round he considered it a bad day? (maybe that's why he's your hero).

And did you realize that more than once during pro-ams if his amateur partners were making too many birdies, even net birdies, Moe would say:

"You don't need me, you don't need me", and he would walk right off the golf course and go hit balls or whatever.

Both films where shot in town. Met up with the guys but am not in SIL. Vince (Unsalted) and some guy's from California came into town to surf this break in front of my house, great conditions but foggy so not to much footage in the final product.

The board is a 9'2" Yater Performer signed Renny. You guy's have some nice breaks in your backyard.

I don't have time for other passionate pursuits.

As TEPaul's ward, guardian and trustee, my time is totally consumed in carrying out my duties.

I've been searching for co-wards, guardians, trustees and for successor wards, guardians and trustees, but, noone will take the job.

I promised his Mother that I'd look after him, but, little did I know what I was getting in for.

Fishing (fresh and salt ), Boating (240 Outrage with twin 150's, 20' shamrock Center console, and 17' Boston whaler)Bowling (I travel to a lot of regional tournaments in the winter), Investing or rather losing money..( I tend to swing for the fences), Huge Yankee's Fan, Music I play guitar and drums ( have played both for over 20 years not very good at either, but good enough to amuse myself), Poker (It is amazing how many hours you can log playing online poker), Tennis, Fantasy sports ( 3 baseball leagues, 4 football, 2 basketball), Office pools (and have been know to place a wager or two on sporting activities

), In the winter a movie buff ( Blockbuster online )... hey I live on a 7 1/2 mile island with 250 year round residents.. You have to have some hobbies....

Also glad to see the Illini represented, although I am not as passionate about Illini sports since moving to Texas. I am planning on being at the Penn State game 9.29 though, in connection with another trip to Chicago.

I picked up golf 2 years ago at 46 after quitting hockey due to back pain. (Golf hasn't helped my back any). I found it very easy to learn golf and to hit down on the ball. I recommend all golfers learn how to shoot a slap shot and snap shot to improve their game

Also love snowboarding and hiking.

It is not the instrument you are thinking, but it is made of wood and snakeskin, it also has strings. I'll leave it to Shivas to tell you what it is since I want to see if he can spell it right for once.

Matthew Mollica was kind enough to help me find a didgeridoo for my son, but we haven't quite figured out how to get that baked bean sound you are referring to.

I did hear someone playing the didge up on a mountain out here in Calif. once so I know what the sound is supposed to be like.

I'm glad to see that I have a fellow STL Cardinal fans on board. For those of you who may not realize this, Cardinal fans truly are the best in baseball. And of course, we get to root for the World Series champs of 2006.

But as much as I love the Cardinals, I'm shocked to see the lack of knowledge when it come to college athletics. I LOVE University of KY basketball, who just happen to be the winningest team in college basketball history.

EG; You got it....but she's also "cool about it" in the process, which garners extra bonus points. In my defense, I typically do one or the other in stretches, but not both.

GD/MB; SIL's Dana Brown was a student in my mom's class at RH Dana in Dana Point, CA (a long time ago). Quite the class roster, as a number of surf legends lived in the area at the time.

I mentioned being a University of Louisville fan in both football & basketball. Kentucky does have a much richer tradition in basketball, but I think we have an edge in the other sport.

Seriously, I'm to the point where I actually root for both teams, but when they play each other that's a different story.
