The only thing I question is that, when I read what the reviews say of the courses, they make the courses seem no good, which is surely untrue as many of them not only are high in many rankings list but seem to be liked here on GCA and by the majority of people who play them.

I've heard people say Medinah is not #11 in the country, but they have still liked and enjoyed the course.  I've heard the inland holes at PBGL may not be the best but surely it is hard to think of them in a different manner when playing 10 holes on the ocean.  I have heard BT is not as good as the other Bandon courses but a course only slightly worse than BD or PD is still a very good course, right?

I just dont understand the bashing of the courses.
Maybe overrated, but probably not bad courses, any of them.

Tim Bert,
You must not be properly comtemplating :o
If you agree with me, you must be contemplating properly.

As for the inexplicable left fairway tilt on #16, ?????
The topography on the right side of the hole is higher than on the left side of the hole. Let me ponder that for a while to see
why the tilt is inexplicible. :-\

How can Harding Park be overrated if its not rated?  Its not on Golf Magazines or Golf Digest top 100 and I'm sure they are not referring to Golfweeks list so I don't understand this entire article.

It could be somebody at Golf looked at the wide range of votes from their panelists and devised some type of formula?  Personally I would take off Pebble Beach, even with 6 or so great ocean holes, it doesn't belong with the others.  I would add Baltusrol to the list in its place.

You know Pete, interesting comments about #16 at BT.  If memory serves right, this is the hole that Huck had major issues with because after your drive, you have to wedge, wedge into the hole and he blamed it on that canter near the hole.  Was Huck involved in the making of this list?  ;D ;)

I only wish I was involved in the creation of this list - that would mean I'd be getting paid for babbling about golf... my dream....

 ;D

But Kalen does sum up my thoughts about 16 at BT close enough.  I do find it problematic, as there's really no good place to leave a 2nd shot less than 150 yards to the green.... but remember, it was a minor quibble.  No way would I ever make the leap from this to calling the course over-rated in any way shape or form.

These lists are meant only to spur controversy; they are the worst kind of subjective BS and do nothing to educate or inform.  I've played half of the courses and liked all five.  Whether they're too highly rated by one or another source is irrelevant.  This reminds me of the Sporting News which had an article about Brian Urlacher, calling him the most overrated player in the NFL.  The author admitted that Urlacher was a very talented player, a great player, but not the best player in the league even though many thought he was; ergo, he was the most overrated player in the league.

I loved The Country Club and cannot understand how it is overrated. I went there wanting to hate it, but really enjoyed it. Really enjoyed it.
