Windows - for those who have eyes to see
« on: May 06, 2007, 07:16:56 PM »
Question for those who create and those who know...

How often are windows created by the architect to preview an upcoming green or landing area?

What are some good examples of this?

Tom's comment about noting the pin positions at TOC got me thinking about this. When I am playing well, I find myself looking for these windows and making use of the glimpses I get of what is to come.

One of the possible examples I was thinking of for this is the Dell Hole at Erin Hills. For those who have played, can you see the pin position from 5 green or 6 tee? Can you see it if you take a few steps up a hillside from one of these spots?

Jeff-

You walk right by the dell hole green the hole before.

Another benefit of tree management efforts is opening up windows.
