CBS coverage of Tiger
« on: April 07, 2007, 12:43:44 PM »
Normally if Tiger is out of the picture, the networks continue to cover Tiger and his every shot.  Yesterday I couldn't help but notice that CBS covered very little of him while he was on the course and focused on the leaders.

My question is , has Masters officials told CBS/USA Networks to focus on the leaders which is the correct thing to do?

I think it was just a function of Tiger's tee time.  He was done by the time the coverage started, but they did show a segment showing his high (and low)-lights.  No one else got such attention.

He played late on Thursday, and was covered extensively.

I'm sure he will get a lot of air time today as well.

Five shots out of the lead with 36 holes to go is not "out of the picture," especially with him.

CBS didn't cover anybody yesterday USA did.  And Tiger is still a major part of the story.  B. Wetterich and J. Rose are/where the leaders for the Time being....

Simple answer, he was almost done when they went on air and the Masters likes to show live coverage as much as possible.  They showed enough replays over the course of the three-hour coverage, but it wasn't the typical coverage, you're right.

I'm in Ireland catching the Masters on BBC2 and its coverage is much more Eurocentric [expected].
At one point I was trying to catch the leaderboard running across the bottom and they skipped over many of the players until I realized they where only showing Euro players.

Tiger was shown some, but mainly repeats of his swing stop on 13 tee.
