I've never played North Shore but the two holes you have showed are remarkably bold and look like a ton of fun to play.

This is probably the only redan bunker I've ever seen that is actually a relief to get into compared to the alternative of not having a bunker in that spot. I wonder how the hole would be without it?

It also looks like long right is a really bad spot to go as well.

Did Tilly modify the slope in the front of the green? It looks near impossible to bounce one on with a low runner.

If this is North Shore, it was originally an Emmet course and if I remember correctly there is still some Emmet there.

I am pretty sure George Bahto has some information on the course that there is still a lot of Emmet there.  Of the Emmet courses in and around NYC this is one of the few I have not seen.  However, I have read some articles on the course and no it was not always known as North Shore CC.

The green in the pictures had me thinking Emmet as well.

An interesting tid bit . . . when Engineers hosted the US Amateur it was such a large field that North Shore (just up the road) held the second qualifying round, the first time that was done.  

I've always thought that with about 2,000 trees removed North Shore would be wonderful to play day in day out.  

I played it once last year, in the George Sands, and hit it to four feet on 9 and made a solid 3 :-\

The 3rd green is the not only the coolist green on the course but it's one of the more unique I've seen, it's like a really skinny and really long redan.

 A good hole, as is  the short 10th that follows.  i believe Robert White  had a central role in either the design or buliding this  pleasant and rolling course, with  great greens
