Patrick,
Both. I 2-putted from across the green (50-ft) and I read about 3 breaks in my putt. When it finally nestled near the hole, probably 10-12 seconds after stroking it, it had taken another couple of twists and turns that I hadn't expected. What made that time so exhilirating was that I went through a series of emotional highs and lows, the initial stroke felt like I'de 2-putt, halfway there it looked like a 3-putt, and after an unread final turn, I thought I would hole out for a birdie 2. Regardless, it was very fun and challenging, and that really is the heart of sound architecture.
