75 degrees, 1 club wind, inland.

85 degrees, 2 club wind, coastal.

90 degrees, no wind, desert.

 :D ;) :)

Like the heat, maybe 78-82, a little breeze and slightly overcast. It helps you see better and seems to make it easier to go low!

My only real chance is 95-100, high humidity. I need a Venturi-esque death march kind of a day.

Working in a non-air-conditioned space with a 35 foot 400 degree dryer burning all day long builds character.

Neither cold enough to see grown men wearing corduroy plus-fours, nor warm enough to see grown men wearing 'Brian Barnes' short shorts.... :o

Well then there we have it - perfectly expressed.

Just one thing... I need to get me some corduroy plus-fours.  I know I would look smashing in them.

 ;D ;D

Pointed no comment on the BB short shorts.

My favorite is overcast in the 60 or low 70's with a light rain or drizzle.  it might sound wierd, but I like it for several reasons.  1st with it bieng a little wet i tend to focus more and not over swing.  2nd with the conditions like this there is little or no wind.  Finally and best of all is that it keeps most golfers in so I get to have the course to myself!

I'm surprised how many choose temperatures under 70 or even 60.  I guess I shouldn't be, since I'm also surprised how many people keep their house cold enough to hang meat even on the hottest summer days!

I guess I'm not surprised that many would prefer to play in relatively wind free conditions, even though it would tend to go against the GCA mantra, but my love of strong winds isn't all masochism (though some of it is)

I figure that I have an advantage over most players the stronger the wind gets.  And that's despite the fact I normally hit it higher than about 99% of golfers.  I've just learned that successful play in the wind is all about:

1) its mostly in your mind, don't get psyched out

2) don't fight it, work with it (yes, I'll aim out over a lake and the let the wind blow the ball back to my target)

3) solidly hit shots beat less than solidly hit shots in the long run, even if the latter are better than the former in every other way imaginable

4) no need to be a 'shotmaker' to keep it low in the wind, just take a short lazy swing and use a couple more clubs

5) Pro V1s and their ilk are like cheating when hitting driver into the wind, if your confidence ever flags when driving into the wind just think about how hard it used to be only a decade ago and how monstrous an advantage you have here in the 21st century

How 'bout every day in San Diego?  8)

Really, I love the wind. 2 clubs is just about perfect. Enough wind that I can work with it, but still enough to get my mind off my swing mechanics and to let the creative side play.

I have always been fond of playing just after a rain storm with the clouds opening up and letting the sun in slowly.  The lighting is clear, a lot of shadow play, no glare and usually no one on the course :D
