If this is a neighborhood course, have C&C done any others?

I don't know of others with interior homes.  Cuscowilla has them on the drive in but they don't interfere.  Having seen the site I don't think this will be much of a problem.  The lots are ample and the corridors will be sufficiently wide I'm sure.

Walked 1, 2, 8, and 9 in the dust.  Bill Coore had trouble getting there because of travel problems.  Ben Crenshaw came across as genuine and passionate.  The first is a downhiller of about 400 that probably will play like the last 2/3 of the 18th at Kapalua where the wind may help balls draw into the green.

2 is a long par 5 with the property boundary on the left.  8 is a par 3 and 9 is an uphill par 5 that plays back to the 1st tee.

Is their any significant topography?
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

I have no doubt that it will be a great course. Dale's comment, however, is a pinpoint to the bias many see here. Even before it's built!

Forrest:

I took Dale's comment to be deliberately ironic.  Perhaps not.

Maybe they were. Florida is not a gifted state when it comes to golf courses. In my opinion, at least. Again — I am hopeful...and I suppose I would place money on the table that this course will become a sought-after golf experience. Still...

The fact that it has been described as "hilly" is probably more important at this stage than who is designing it.  It's a great head start in Florida if you are working with land that isn't flat.

I am curious what's around the outside of the course.  You'd have to assume it's more housing and they just didn't want to highlight that ... it certainly can't be the edge of the property, no developer is going to give his neighbor a chance to develop golf course frontage lots on his golf course.

I know that most of Florida is not "hilly", but John's Island West has some pretty significant elevation changes, being built on a sand ridge just outside Vero Beach.
Can't get back to RDGC soon enough

This site is hilly...as well as neighboring Bella Collina

I was shocked to see the hills....my laborers live in Clermont and I had to get them to their apts.  The site of their apts looks out over rolling hills and is actually very pretty.

I was going to visit some golf courses this weekend and next weekend ,as I have some time off ,but didnt want to see flat with mounds
I need a nickname so I can tell all that I know.....

I'll try and post a couple pictures from yesterday if I can figure how to do it. The clubhouse is positioned on a high point that looks down to Lake Apopka. Most of the neighboring area is farmland,,, so far anyway.
Tim - are you working on the Sugarloaf Mtn course?
I was surprised to see how far along Bella Collina's course has come. Our pro said they've hit a couple shots around it already, but I haven't heard when they anticipate its opening.

No I am not...working at Isleworth...redoing fairway bunkers...we just finished the new short game area and greenside bunkers renovation.

I rode out to the Sugarloaf site a few weeks ago....site looks intresting.  i tried to get in the Bella Collina gate but the guard would not let me in...She asked if I was with Ginn........I almost told a fib and said yes.....but could not lie....besides...my work truck had my company name all over it.....lol

Sally, my understanding is that the golf course is more ready than everything needed to support it - access roads, clubhouse, etc...  I think golf could be played in the early part of 2007.

What is amazing to me is how little has been done on the lots at Bella Colina with the exception of the Street of Dreams homes.  Those lots sold over a year ago and there isn't much going on.

Tim: Good hilly golf courses in the Orlando area.

Highlands Reserve
Southern Dunes
Diamond Players Club
Mission Inn - El Campeon
Rock Springs Ridge - W/N
Legends of Clermont

If you go closer to Ocala you will find El Diablo to be very good.  A real sleeper is Golden Hills across the street from Ocala.

If you are going to be in the area for a while we might be able to get out.
