I think you need to understand that Ping is very tough about their pricing and the bags could be far more expensive than what we charged through Sun Mountain.  Sun Mountain also did all shipping for us.  We used two different bags but primarily the lighter bag which is now the Swift X as it is the lightest stand bag out there.

Jerry,

I was wondering from your comment above if you actually work for Sun Mountain?

Titleist also do custom bags - even the moon bags which would be cheaper and better for die hards GCA'ers - http://www.titleist.com/accessories/custom/default.aspx

This would be easier for us to get in the UK. I would be happy if it was a moon bag without the stand perfect for links courses!

I have seen custom made Ping bags in the UK recently but not seen a Sun Mountain bag for ages apart from Sean Arble's!!

I would not wear the Sun Mountain waterproofs given their poor performance in Wales!  ;D

Cheers
Ben

The deal Jerry did with Sun Mountain was fantastic.  I got the customized GCA bag (1st edition!) shipped to the UK for a price way below what I would have paid to buy the same model in the UK from the cheapest retailer.  That bag is still going, though American Airlines managed to break one of the internal struts on my way back from Boston in May :'(

I think organising this from the UK would mean paying substantially higher prices.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Mark,

OK looks like we will go with Jerry + Sun Mountain as it is a good deal. Did you buy the bag when the dollar exchange rate was higher?

Gamber Baysound's GCA bag

I think a Titleist X96 bag red white and navy with that logo at the top of the screen wouild be sweet and go with the colour scheme...

That bag is way too big.

A titleist x96 is the exact same bag as the Swift X...in fact Sun Mountain makes both.

Ben: I am going to assume that you are kidding about my association with Sun Mountain.  I chose them after I used one of the Mini bags at Ballyneal plus their pricing was the best, they make the bags for Titileist and they handled all the shipping.  They have the embroidery machines that do 5 of the same bags at a time so selection had to be limited.  Sun Mountain is a small company in Montana that prides itself on customer service and they were fantastic in assisting GCA in the project. Please feel free to contact Ran to get his okay for whatever project you want to undertake but I think you might be surprised at what you learn.  Cheers, Jerry

Jerry -

If Ben feels he can do a better job, better product at a fair price, then I think you should let him organize the whole deal himself.

If I ever come across a guy claiming to be a 22 handicap with a towel that used on his bag he better be playing under an assumed name.

Mike,

I do not want to cause any problems, I have got the message that Jerry is GCA's bagman! :) based on his experience Ping is expensive and Sun Mountain was the best deal.

I can still find out how much it costs to do it through Titleist re: moon bags without stands in the UK if its ok.

Cheers
Ben

Why re-invent the wheel?

What might the new pricing be?  Color (s)?  Orders being taken?

Interested.

Please understand that I volunteered to undertake the project out of my own stupidity and I make no claim to ownership of it.  Make whatever inquiries you wish but just make sure that everything is cleared with Ran. Let me remind you that most companies have ordering minimums and my instincts tell me that early Spring is the better time to undertake the project but do as you please.

I fully agree with Jerry.  The bags and service were both great.  I don't know how many orders Jerry managed but it was great.

I've got a hunch he doesn't want to do it again.   ;)

I would still be using mine if it hadn't been stolen.   >:(

I wore out the innards of those all white Footjoy saddles.   :'(

Short story on the stolen bag.  Thieves slipped into house with unlocked back door.  Deaf Aussie in bedroom didn't hear, didn't bark.  Dog that hears too afraid of old Aussie to bark.  Thieves stole car keys, billfold, cell phones, lap top.  Took my car.  Car found 6 hours later, no damage but trunk empty of golf gear.  Now have alarm system.

I'll probably order one of the bags, like the blue/gold.  go Bears.

Signed,

"The Old Bag"

I fully agree with Bill's first and second points and would like, again, to thank Jerry for all the work he did sorting these out.  Were there clubs in the stolen bag?

My bag is still in use.

I'm fussy about bags but would be in for a Sun Mountain one. I have the previous model but the new one has betterl egs and the old one has done 100+ rounds.
Let's make GCA grate again!

I'd be interested in a bag, and have had many Sun Mountain bags.  Top quality all.  Their rain gear is also exceptional, and the whole Ryder Cup mess was not good for PR.  But, it may have been a bit overblown, too.

Wasn't the Ryder Cup gear flap due to the obnoxious stitching, and actually had nothing to do at all with the raingear itself?
