RJD:  you're talking to a guy who created Arsenal logoes for his boys' soccer team.  I know it can be done on a golf bag.  I'm just not THAT wedded to this place to go to that kind of trouble.  All I am saying is that in a perfect selfish Tom Huckaby world, this GCA bag I'm gonna buy anyway is one that works for the hickories... that seems most appropriate to me.

Like I say, I'm gonna buy one no matter what, just to support what seems like a great idea....

Huck, I have a friend that had a machine that does this sort of work.  I haven't seen him in a while, but when I do, I'll ask him what the cost is for say 100 logos on a patch that can be sewed/pasted onto any bag, or your forehead if you are married to this site. ::) ;D  I'm betting it is next to nothing.  In which event, I'll send them to Ran, and he can hand them out to contributors or something.
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

RJD - that would be another cool thing to do.  I know I wouldn't be interested in a patch, but others might.

Dick's right, you can do it your own way not terribly expensively yourself, if you don't care for Jerry's effort.

Patches like the one Dick described are probably $2-3 a patch if you order 100. Simple text stitching on one bag is probably $10-25, depending on whom you approach to do it.

I'd guess there is some small chance the bag company might not require all the same bag, but that complicates things a lot for everyone, and after doing the t shirts, I know how easy it is for things to spiral out of control.

(In case anyone is wondering about the golf shirt orders I asked about last year, I had a rather large personal life change immediately after I posted the offer, and that put things on hold. However, if you did place an order, you can expect a free golf shirt to be arriving sometime this fall.)

I have spoken with Ran and he has said okay to a Golf Club Atlas golf bag for us to purchase with the logo embroidered on it.  Ran and I have selected the Sun Mountain Mini as the bag - this is the lightest bag that I know of that has a stand - it is just over two pounds, so it is great for those of us who walk and carry our bags, and caddies will love us.  We have chosen the silver color and it will have the Golf Club Atlas.Com logo as above with the yellow/gold letters and the flagstick with the red flag.

The bag is priced at $75.00 including drop shipping directly to you. GCA will be making no money on the transaction - it is not a fundraiser - it is being done solely to identify those of us who are active on GCA.  Any contributions you want to make to the site should continue as before and should not be sent to me.  Here is a link to Sun Mountain so you can see the bag.

http://www.sunmountain.com/default.php?cPath=2946_2947_2895&showproductlist#productlist

I need to get an idea of how many people are interested as we need a certain level of commitment to meet the guarantees required from Sun Mountain.

Please email me at gcagolfbag@yahoo.com if you are willing to commit to a purchase of the bag. I will need your name, shipping address and telephone number to pass on to Sun Mountain.  You will be paying by check to me, but no money should be sent until I post that it is a go.

I will need your commitment by October 20 to be included.  This will not be ongoing - I will not accept any commitments after the deadline.  Presuming that it is a go, we should have the bags within 30 days and well before Christmas.

Jerry:
Bump.  Where does this stand are you near the commitment level yet?
Best
Dave

I have about 30 bags committed at this point - Mike Policano has told me that the bag is so light that the left handed issue is really not that significant as he owns a few of them - I might be able to get the more expensive bag for the lefties but I am not going to get into an assortment of choices - I would suggest that the lefties try and find one at a local retailer and see what they think - a single style and color was the idea in order to quickly identify a GCA member.

Jerry

Put me down for one of these babies.

I had the pleasure of trying Mike Policano's today.  I am a lefty and I can say that this blows away my Sun MOuntain lefty 3.5 bag.  Mike had 13 clubs in it with room for more. It fetl MUCH lighter then my bag and was easy to carry (for a lefty) and the stand mechanism works better then mine (which is the new 2006 model).

I was very impressed.

This is a bit like wearing a Fishers Island golf shirt. The logo is only identifiable to those who have taken the New London Ferry.

I am definitely going to order one. I might suggest that if it is practical, the bottom of the bag (on the base of the sole plate) have that picture of The Emperor from S.I. a couple years back.

For certain, any lurker or GCA junkie who sees the bag will immediately seek out its owner:

Come on, only 10 more needed!

We could order 10 for all the Morrissetts, and then send the bill to the BBGE....

Thanks again.  Let me know how to get payment to you and the check will be in the mail.  Direct payment through paypal might be faster and more efficient.

Does that mean we've made the quota? If it gets close and we're still short, I might be interested in purchasing another as a gift.

Tim, Jerry indicated in his initial post that they should be ready before Christmas.

However, I will add that he's somewhat at the mercy of Sun, so if it's later than anyone thinks, blame them, not him!
