it's the Dinard Golf Club - founded in 1887 by british residents.

I've no details on the routing choices in these early days for golf in France (1887). In my memory, the peninsula is very hilly but it's a good position for a tee, if not for a green (largely blind because of the topography).
The view is wonderful.
It's interesting to know that Tom DUNN with Willie DUNN were involved in the remodelling of the Biarritz course in 1889 and they create new holes for this course like the famed Chasm hole (Biarritz hole).
So why does Tom DUNN create a hole which cross the sea at Biarritz and don't incorporate one at Dinard ? I don't know

Maybe this peninsula was not available at this time (in term of propriety) ? Maybe Tom DUNN was angry to not use this peninsula at Dinard and 2 years later, he benefits from the Biarritz occasion to develop a concept he has in mind since Dinard ? There are only assumptions, not golf architecture history.
