Before and after BUDA Cup
« on: July 20, 2006, 07:56:18 AM »
I know four of you are playing Reddish Vale on Sunday 1st Oct.  The Secretary (Rod Dean) has e-mailed to say that he's delayed the start of a junior tournament to allow you out at 9.45 and he will walk round with you.  He's excellent company with a brilliant wit.  You'll enjoy it.

How many of you want to play Delamere Forest on Thursday 5th?  I'm happy to drive over there to fix something up if you would like me to.  I know some of you have already made plans.

If anyone wants tips for other local courses feel free to E-mail me.

Mark, my son David and I are playing Delamere Forest Thursday; I have no idea if anyone has made a tee time yet!  Thanks for your help.  We are booked into the dormy house at Beau Desert that night and playing on the next day, Friday, before departure for home on Saturday.

The look of Hoylake has really whetted my appetite for this trip!

I should be delighted to have a word with Delamere and see if they can set something up.

Mark,
I mentioned to Sean that I was interested in playing Delamere Forest on Thursday. I'm booked into the Beau Desert dormy house Thursday night for a Friday game.

Yeah, I'm thrilled that my suggestion of Reddish Vale is coming to such wonderful fruition.  I'm really grateful to have someone there - as well as my stalwart and excellent playing partners - for some crackerjack conversation.  Smashing!

Mark, thank you for your assistance in helping grease the wheels.  I am thrilled to play another Mackenzie.  I cherished every moment of my day at Crystal Downs and know I'll have tons of great stories form the entire week.

And hey - how about Lytham to close the tour?!  Talk about a big cherry on the sundae!

We only have a confirmed twosome for Reddish Vale: Jay Flemma and myself. Dan Moore is penciled in for the third, but he is not yet able to fully commit to the Buda Cup. So, we are looking for one more player (maybe two) who would be interested in Reddish Vale.

On Thursday, Tiger Bernhardt, Jay and I are playing Royal Lytham. Again, Dan Moore is just penciled in as the fourth, so there might be a spot open there if Dan can't make the trip.

On Friday, Andrew Mitchell and I are joining Sean Arble's group at Beau Desert.

Michael,  If you don't have a full four for Reddish Vale I am willing to make up numbers, but not at the expense of a visitor.  Mark.

Michael,

Speak with GCA regular Tom Williamsen, who came with me to Reddish Vale.  He'll give you a candid opinion.

Mark.

Delamere Forest Thursday 5th.  The Secretary tells me that there are no conflicting bookings so we are free to play at any time and in any number!  I wasn't asked for any kind of deposit, so we can decide who wants two rounds etc when we meet at Hoylake.  It also means you are not committed if you get a better offer.  At the moment the party looks like being Bill and David McBride, Mark Bourgeois and Craig Disher.

If Ellis Jones is still there as Professional (I know he's about to retire) give yourself time to have a coffee with him or, better, a pint after round - he's a lovely man.  You'll also probably meet Carol Comboy, whose late husband was the previous professional.  She was a distinguished amateur golfer and Captain of the 1978 and 1980 Curtis Cup teams at Apawamis and St Pierre.

I have some quite decent digital photos of Delamere, so have a look at Frank Pont's Golf Architecture Pictures website.  They're on there.
