Treehouse Gang,

When Bobby Jones was still alive and "running" ANGC, did he make changes to the golf course as the membership does now?

Troy - Here is a quote from a Ron Whitten story on the Golf Digest. It's not much and I'm sure some people the site know much more.

"The tradition at Augusta National has always been to remodel and upgrade the course. That was true when Perry Maxwell was brought in in 1937 to tone down the contours of some of the original greens done by the late Alister Mackenzie. That was true when Bob Jones asked Robert Trent Jones to come up with a more-testing par-3 16th hole in the late 1940s."

Tony,

Thank you.  That answers my question.

A second question would be what Jones thinks of the changes in recent years.

Is the treehouse gang to critical of ANGC and the changes?

The treehouse gang is too critical...as for Jones, he would probably think some are ok...but I doubt he would like the rough they have been growing.

Bob Crosby would sure know most of the details to that question. Seems to me at some point Jones definitely parted ways with Roberts phiolosophically about constantly changing ANGC.
