Winged Foot Pictures from Monday
« on: June 13, 2006, 08:31:25 AM »
You'll have to forgive my excitement as this is one of the few Golden Age courses that I have been to.  I have really never seen greens like these in person, and it was remarkable to me how they were shaped, and how the contour tied in so well to the rest of the complex.  Anyway here are a couple pictures that I took yesterday of things that really interested me about the architecture.

The false front on 7th.

Left bunker on the 12th Green.  I particularly liked the little valley on the green and overall slope of the surface.

The 11th fairway.  Check out the slope on this!  They better get the ball to the tree on the left or find the rough.

The 10th.  This one is great up close, but I didn't get any good shots.

Darren's sweet pants.  OK, a little OT, but you gotta love those pants. ;)

Boy it didn't look that nice when I played it.  I still haven't seen a picture which gives and indication how far below the hole you are if you miss right on #10.  But you can see how small a 6 foot person looks down there.
