Just got my GA issue 9 in the mail.  Haven't had a chance to review it yet but I thumbed through a piece on Sebonack ;D ;D  It looks like a superb piece of property.

Jason, you've just earned yourself nights of reading and feeding your golf architecture interests.  I found the article on the unique challenge of golf design in Finland to be enlightening, and how good is Mike Nuzzo's article on PAD vs CAD as a golf design tool!

As always Paul Mogford and Neil Crafter have collated superb imagery to illustrate the articles, most notably the analysis of the hidden detail in Dr.Mack's hand drawn plans of his Australian layouts.  I'm yet to read the artcile on Majors Hutchison, Campbell & Hotchkin, but noted the contrast in the images of their work under construction, and the following feature on moving mountains at Mission Hills!

Greg and Jason
Jason - the Sebonack land can't be too bad adjoining NGLA, but with more ocean front! Nice photos from Joann Dost give a pretty good idea what to expect once the course opens. Had many more but couldn't use them all in the article. Interesting to get Doak and Nicklaus' answers to the same questions.

Greg - the HC&H article is a great piece of work by Tom MacWood and over the last two issues Tom has written fantastic definitive biographies of Tom Simpson and now Hutchison, Campbell and Hotchkin. Well worth the read when you get the time. Yes, a significant contrast between their work and the building of the 5 courses in the mountains at Mission Hills. The most interesting bit for me was Hutchison's experience as a prisoner in WW1 and the golf course he designed and built in the prisoner of war camp at Clausthal - before the war he had built Gleneagles with Braid so he already knew a thing or two.

Mike Nuzzo's piece on Computers in Design was also very informative.

cheers Neil
